Like many, I stopped watching the walking dead around season 7-8, when the show was at its least creative. The show's best content in seasons 1-6 was about a 50/50 split between comic book storylines and new original stuff. This new content either fleshed out existing relationships (Shane and Rick, Carol and Tyreese, etc.) and totally new stuff to fill in the gaps (CDC, Daryl and Merle, Terminus, Grady Memorial Hospital, the wolves). Basically, the comic book would act as the base for the show to expand upon and fill in the gaps, and they nailed this balance for a while.
As season 7 came along, it became clear there simply wasn't enough saviors content to make up 2 seasons, but AMC made the writers go ahead and do it anyway. And thus one of the best parts of the comics was stretched out with tons of new filler and resulted in the weakest part of the show. Again, this is when I stopped watching, and I'm only just recently catching up.
The creators thankfully recognized their mistake and the show underwent some behind the scenes changes, and (from what I've heard, as I haven't fully caught up yet) seasons 9-11 were a return to form for the show. I only caught the last two episodes live but without getting into any specifics, this show goes out on a high and ends on the perfect note for this long journey.
This year saw another outstanding finale (BCS, as referenced in the title) and there's plenty of exciting new TWD content on the horizon (I have very high expectations for Rick and Michonne...)

I know this series has been a constant up and down. Like many, I stopped watching at one point, started again, and stopped again. But something always brought me back to this series, which has now accompanied me for a large part of my life.
What the creators of the series have achieved towards the end is something special. Especially this last episode of the original series expressed so much beautiful that it leaves me emotional after the last words of Judith. Especially the montage of all those we lost over the series was beautifully done. Also to be mentioned is the great build up of the many characters that were added within the last 3 seasons, such as Lydia, which really added to the series in terms of the complexity of the characters. The fact that with Eugene someone who was introduced as a coward in the series and towards the end became the most courageous of all, as well as the strong personal improvement from the evil par excellence Negan, to a heartwarming character who really wants to do something good, is terrific character development, which in my opinion rarely occurs within series.
We can only congratulate the creators of the series, because they have created something great, which will remain timeless for a long time because of the theme and the message in the subtext.
The end of this show can only be recognized as one of the best ever, where really little comes close (Six Feet Under remains unbeaten). It was a really great ride and I'm positively looking forward to the mini-series with Rick and Michonne.

It has been a long road for the wandering dead. It had an incline and a decline. Although it had many turns and twists, some of them were similar. Still, my favourite characters from this show are Daryl and Negan. In 2023, I'm anticipating additional information. I'm hoping for greater narratives. We also need some strong personalities. Although he did a fantastic job, Andrew Lincoln left the show in the midst, and Daryl (Reedus) continued.
My favourite show deserves to be seen more often. The thank-you messages to the fans were a wonderful addition to the after-show package, and this was arguably the nicest finish one could ever imagine. One of my all-time favourite shows. Thank you. I'm so glad it's finished.

A depressing but amazing end to the series. A couple scenes left me with tears in my eyes. I've had some series finales leave me disappointed. This show did NOT disapoint. I loved the final ten minutes wrapping up the series and giving the viewers with what I felt was a proper goodbye. I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch the spinoffs that will be released in the near future but after this finale I now know that I will watch them. I got all the feels. Well done to the writers, director, actors and everyone else involved... thank you for the proper send off. This episode will probably stick in my head for days now.
As a finale, this episode was satisfying enough. We saw old characters return in flashbacks and the characters we have left get conclusions that I can be happy with. Even though the commonwealth story arc felt a little rushed and out of place in a lot of aspects, it still moved the story forward enough to be worth implementing. I still think the final season should have had way more big character deaths, it seemed like the right time for many of our characters to go after all this time. This ties in to my main issue with the finale, being that it was clearly made to push the ever expanding universe's spin-offs. If it wasn't for that it would have been near perfect ending to my favourite show.

- TriviaChandler Riggs visited the set while filming was taking place and was convinced to be in the background of a scene. He was given a hat to blend in.
- ErroresWhen Rosita falls from the pipe to land in the horde, a large black padded mat can be seen where she falls.
- Citas
Daryl Dixon: Stop! What the hell you doing? We all deserve better than this. You build this place to be like the old world, that was the fucking problem.
Pamela Milton: If I open the gates, the dead will get in, not just the living.
Daryl Dixon: If you don't, you're gonna lose everything anyway. We got one enemy. We ain't the walking dead.
