Mr. Earth

At the end of the day this is a very human and down to earth story about a father dealing with some very common human themes. It just happens to deal with them on another planet where it contrasts with a civilization where emotions have been lost. I thought it was better than most films at this budget and the main actor was actually really good.

While the pacing could have been faster and the scale larger, this film is simply a deep dive into a man struggling with depression and loss. If you know that going in and can relate, the film works. It's not about action or scale whatsoever. Don't expect blockbuster effects. It's about a very flawed yet relatable man dealing with the pain of loss.

I loved this movie, it has so much heart and soul, and the acting is quite good. I give it a 9 to help offset the mediocre scores it has received as it deserves a much better than a 5.5 rating. No flashy effects but this is made up for by the storyline and engaging characters. Without giving anything away, prepare to be swept up in a otherworldly relationship, a father and daughter growing closer out of a painful past. It is all woven together perfectly and left me feeling more hopeful about finding that ethereal love that is always 'out there' for those who seeking it. Give it a watch, you will not be disappointed.

My family is notorious for putting on random movies and usually they are terrible, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Yes it is a low budget film, but taking it for what it was, I thought it was well done. The premise was intriguing and it ended up being very heartfelt and thought provoking. I was highly impressed by the score which was levels above the average low budget film. I also thought the main actor who played Ben was wonderful. They did a good job subtly providing a sci-fi movie without a lot of special effects and it was (mostly) believable. Am I adding it to my weekly movie rotation? Maybe not. But it was worth the watch and I came away really having enjoying myself. Give it a try and it may just surprise you too!

I'll be honest, this movie exceeded my expectations. I never know what to expect when I watch a movie I've never heard of or know the actors. It's always a complete unknown. But I just got drawn into this whole concept the movie explored. Like, honestly, 10 stars for the idea, and 10 stars for the effort. Digging around online for some backstory on this film this was pretty much made for nothing, and it holds its own against films I've seen Hollywood produce for 100 million dollars.

And the music, my word, just beautiful. Had to look it up afterward and saw it had a soundtrack on all the music platforms. Immediately downloaded it. I've listened to the main theme several times now.

So why am I giving it 7 stars and not 10? Because this is a real review. It's not Interstellar. A film like Interstellar in my mind is a 10/10 movie. But it had the budget to become that. This film was lacking a 100-million-dollar budget to showcase the other worlds. And that's really not a knock on the film, the crew, the actors, they just didn't have it, they didn't have any budget, and yet they still found ways around it to make it a powerful story. They also didn't try to duct tape fake buttons on fake spaceship, etc, they somehow just seamlessly got around it all to where it was believable. And I loved that about this movie. They didn't try to do what they couldn't do. They did what they "could do" and they did a really good job.

At minimum go google the soundtrack. Just beautiful.

It is not necessary to have everything spelled out for you with this movie. The ideas are presented in the least definitive way because the point is for the viewer to think about the feelings being examined and not the details of when, where, and what. The dialogue was not important between most of the characters, The viewer was prompted to simply feel the feelings involved with each character's situation in this plot. The passage of time was left very vague on purpose. The feelings were the main consideration here. The real meaning of the movie doesn't get presented until the end, so anyone who doesn't get there, doesn't know what this is about. As more AI becomes present in our future we will be called on to decide how important human feelings really are. Without human feeling what is the meaning of anything? Beautiful scenes, engaging music, and fantasy adventure.....enjoy the feelings.
