There are many thrillers this resembles, ranging from classics like The Collector and Misery to cult oddities like 1973's "The Baby", but it has a peculiar mood all its own, benefiting from the sexuality that porn brings to the usually opressive thriller genre subject matter. Codey Steele, recovering from a coma is the newest member of a perverted "family", headed by doctor Stirling Cooper and his wife Mona Wales, with their young fake-daughters Jessie Saint and Natalie Knight.

The audience is made to strongly identify with poor Codey, who is their prisoner. Without spoiling the details of the carefully built-up narrative, sex is the tie that binds this menage, but Codey rebels against the paternalistic/maternalistic approach that traps him in this family against his will. The balance between three lengthy sex scenes and the gradual revelatory story line is impressive, as are the acting performances of the ensemble cast, especially in light of the wilful diminution of "acting" in Adult Cinema in recent years.
