The edge has been lost off the comedy through the years, understandably with the risks of cancel culture, and it shows. However, this show was surely never supposed to be about pushing the comedy envelope. This was pure sentimentality for the huge Gavin and Stacy fan base and gave a perfect ending. Ruth Jones in particular stands head and shoulders above the norm as Nessa, and deserves 10 stars for her acting alone. To be able to make a caricature of a character so believable and make my heart break for her is quite a feat. The speech by Larry Lamb was also a great addition and, I won't lie to you, had me welling up in no time. Thank you to all the brilliant cast and crew for giving us the ending we all wanted.
I found this final episode extremely nostalgic. Some of the characters haven't seemed to have aged ie Bryn, Gwen, Nessa, Dave, Smithy; however in real life everything has changed in the last 17 years when it first aired, so it was sweetly nostalgic to see their familiar faces.
Two areas stood out for me. The foam in the pub when we realised we have aged and moved on. Youth is fleeting and it's hard to recreate the past.
Then there was Mick who made me cry twice. Firstly it was his speech where he explained why he saw Smithy as his second son - a real lump in the throat moment. Later I cried again when Mick had to make a decision; it was a poignant moment with Mick clearly trying to support his "second son" to the end. Well done Larry Lamb, amazing actor.
Honestly I don't really like James the late night host but I love him as Smithy. This was a fantastic episode and I will miss these characters so much that I will probably binge watch the whole series again. In the meantime this episode will be watched again tonight to absorb it all. Well done and thank you to all involved.

This was event TV and you just knew that millions of households around the UK would be settling down, just like we were, in anticipation of one last episode with this beautiful, sweet, funny lot! It did not disappoint!
The acting, as always, was brilliant and the casting is perfection. You can just tell and feel that the whole cast are like a real extended family. Thank you to the writers for delivering EXACTLY what we wanted. It was perfect and surprisingly moving at the end. My only regret is that my imagination will continue to run riot as to what really happened on that infamous fishing trip but some things are best left to the imagination I guess! 10/10 for a Christmas TV special that was just that. Special.

This could not have been better! I laughed and I cried. The whole thing was nostalgic but had also moved with the times. I've watched twice now and am going to watch again. The perfect ending. The same characters we love. Honestly, just amazing.
I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't yet watched but be warned, you will need tissues! I can't quite believe it's all over, it's been an immense 17 years. The writing is exceptional as always and there are a few shocks in store in the finale. I feel sad it's all over but the ending was perfect. I'll definitely watch the entire series over and over again, it's my go to when I feel down.

There was a weight of expectation on this final ever episode of such a much-loved show and it truly did not disappoint. The previous special in 2019 was enjoyable but was perhaps more about nostalgia, to the point that people were prepared to forgive weaknesses because they were simply happy to see all their favourite characters back on the screen.
The Finale, however, lived up to all the hype, it was really was very enjoyable and was 100% worthy of its task of bringing the curtain down once and for all.
Every line was delivered superbly with lots of laughs and a great story, all leading up to an enjoyable and satisfying ending. Brilliant!
