Alice in Bocchan-land
Summer anime season is in its last week, so it's time to binge as many as possible. A gloomy teenager with the curse of killing any living things he touches lived with his maid, who was his childhood friend, while trying to find the way to lift the curse.
The worst aspect of this anime was the CGI animation. The problem with this new animation style is that the movements and facial expressions are very unconvincing. However, after three or four episodes, I got used to the animation style and just rolled along with it.
But other than that, this was a wholesome romcom drama that I had a great time. The relationship between the duke and the maid was cute. There's some light naughty stuff, but the care they had for each other was real and heartwarming. I loved how they made each other overcome the pain of isolation. It's nothing new, but the execution still hit the point. The drama could have been stronger in tone, but it was still investing enough. The animation didn't help the characters to show their emotions much.
Although the side characters mostly added the comedic value to the show, they were still relevant to the story. Towards the end, it's clear that a lot of the story was setting up for the second season.
Overall, a wholesome season despite its problematic animation style. 7.5/10.
