Am a big fan of Pixar, old and new, and have been extremely impressed by the overall standard of the Sparkshorts. Where even the weakest ones ('Smash and Grab' for example) are still good and have a lot to recommend, and the best (such as 'Kitbull', 'Float', 'Loop') are outstanding. Was expecting a lot from 'Twenty Something', as someone who connected with the subject from the get go as somebody who wholly believes in having an inner child.
Some may debate as to whether 'Twenty Something' is one of the best Sparkshorts. To me it definitely is, with one of the most relatable subject matters explored yet and one that is handled in an equally easy to relate to way and in a way that has a lot of depth. As said too, this is coming from a long term animation fan somebody who really likes to adores all the other Sparkshorts Pixar efforts and somebody who doesn't hesitate in recommending them. Really admired pixar for doing this subject and they handled it absolutely beautifully.
'Twenty Something' does everything right. For example, it is to me one of the best and interesting looking short films from Pixar and the visuals throughout are very colourful and stylish. The character design and character animation for the lead character is a primary example of all that. The music is lovely to listen to and very fitting with the atmosphere.
What 'Twenty Something' says about growing up and the inner child is so easy to relate to and is insightful. It is also perfect tonally, with hilarious funny moments, genuinely touching ones and is non-over sentimental and sweet without being sugary.
Furthermore, the lead character is very easy to relate to for me, as someone who is one of those people that the subject applies to, while the story is simple yet very poignant and intelligent.
Overall, outstanding. 10/10.
