Powerful and relevant
Firstly I'll say I'm not a huge Robbie Williams fan, outside of singing Better Man at karaoke in my younger days I really don't know many of his songs.
What drew me to this movie was the genius of using Monkey Williams. It represented this 'dancing monkey' nature of fame that is today. To be relevant in a flash, a hype, cater to the masses rather than be celebrated for the uniqueness of who you are. It spoke deeply of never feeling enough deep inside. Even if you do the thing you dream of, doing it in a way that sucks the life out of you is no way to live. It speaks to the universal human journey - Living to someone else's expectation, letting go of the baggage of having to live out someone else's dream under the illusion of it being your own, falling down and then choosing to get back up for your own reasons in your own voice.. in your own way.
It also highlights that we are all human and have our own problems and the people at the top sometimes have the hardest time finding people to relate to what they truly feel inside beyond their outer shell.
For some, it was just a movie. For me, it was a journey that made me reflect not just on my life but on what I could be doing differently and how relevant this is for every TikTok'er or content creator to watch, so we don't become 'dancing monkeys'.
