Following, 'Thanks to Them' would undoubtedly be a hard task for 'The Owl House' team, and while, I don't think this episode quite matches that one, it is still a great episode.
The story, humour and animation are all still top-notch here, my only real complaint is the pacing, which, unlike 'Thanks to Them' sags a bit, and I feel like it could have benefited slightly from being two separate episode, but really, it didn't impact my enjoyment of the episode and I am still excited for the finale.
There were some excellent character moments in this episode, which easily made up for the weaker elements.
Overall, a solid episode that builds up well to the finale.

Although it had potential to be great, "For The Future" is a disappointing penultimate episode that's clunky, poorly paced, and attempts to bite off more than it can chew.
This episode is a massive step down from "Thanks To Them." It throws too much at the viewer, leaving us confused halfway through as we struggle to process the emotions and ideas shoved in our faces. In addition, the episode doesn't have a distinct, gratifying flow, leaving its ending unsatisfying compared to other episodes.
If The Owl House had been given more time to flesh out the last of its plot and characters, season 3 would've been an incredible ride. Unfortunately, its cancelation left the creators no choice but to stuff as much as they could into these last episodes, which has yet to lead to great results. I'm hoping the show's finale, "Watching and Dreaming," can give this show the closure it deserves.

I am so sad that the show is coming to a close, but once again Dana and her crew are bringing their A game. While I like "Thanks to Them" more, "For the Future" is still fantastic! It moves much faster, so there will certainly be many a rewatch to see all I missed.
We get character interactions I was hoping for more of, retouching on "old wounds" that we didn't see fully heal, call backs to past episode in the best way, and a few straight up GUT punches. Also, Luz and Camila share a moment that had me full on in tears. It's no spoiler that this mother-daughter duo is the best!
Add all of this with a doozy of a cliffhanger, and I am both excited and terrified to see where this show goes in the end. This will forever be one of the best shows I've seen in recent years. Thank you team Owl House!!
Oh!! Most importantly we find out what happened to François!!

This is a good episode. Unfortunately, it's a little too bogged down for me to call it a great episode. The story takes a bit too long to get going, but it has some strong character moments, especially near the end.
Not all the jokes land, and some of them feel awkward at times. I get that since we're getting closer to the end that the comedy needs to take a step back, but even this shows other more serious episodes land their comedy better than this one.
In terms of character moments, this episode's conflicts have good foundations in what the rest of the show has set up, but like with a lot of season 2B, it felt like there was too much to do with the time they had, so some of it fell by the wayside and got less focus than it should have. The in-episode conflict setups were weak compared to previous episodes, but that's a step down from an A to a B, so it's by no means bad.
Overall, I wouldn't say this episode lives up to the hype of the 3 month wait time from Thanks To Them, and it makes me a little worried that the show won't be able to stick the landing as well as it should have been able to. Here's hoping episode 3 is great, though.

Camila: I had a hard time growing up. I was afraid you would too. My biggest mistake was trying to protect you, by changing this beautiful good witch into something she wasn't.
Luz: I think I just realized something. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out. The only thing I've ever really wanted... was to be understood.
