This is so nice to see Lee Yeong-ae surrounded by amazing cast and display her talent as a serious, clever and funny character. This is a refreshing portrait of a drunk devasted detective ! Original as all the clues come and go. We appreciate all the roles and it is cool to see this gang becoming attached to each others. Lee Yeong-ae is perfect and the outfit is legendary. We get more in 1 season than we usually get from other series, this shows how generous korean series are ! This serie has some flaws but overall it Is so pleasant to watch that it is ok.
For some, this show may take a while to get into. The deep intricate (not weak) plot and constant switching back and forth between past and present; and between sets, requires one's full unflinching attention to fully capture its mosaic-piece revelations and contextualise the manic scene jumps.
Having freshly emerged from Saimdang into Inspector Koo, one needed to reset one's expectations to appreciate this completely different genre. Not something to watch whilst multitasking, especially when fully reliant on English subtitles.
Thanks to TheReviewGeek.com episode reviews, the lights came on and Inspector Koo turned out to be highly enjoyable kooky hilarious life manga cat and mouse thriller. The cast chemistry fitted well together apart from a really annoying hapless Santa. Both female leads were stellar. A
Lee Young Ae was very brave to have accepted this role, which goes to show her versatility and willingness to explore/ portray vastly different genre characters. Initially off putting to see her eccentric character, however in hingsight she fitted in like a glove. The showcase was Yi-Kung's character
Crime dramas are best told in 1-2 episodes but this has managed to pull off 12 hence a little protracted but highly engaging after all (on third take).
Actually rather entertaining with many cartoon moments which (if you flip the switch) can be hilarious.

Interestingly the star of Lady Vengeance Lee Young-ae plays an ex police officer in pursuit of a serial killer played by Kim Hye-jun, who kills evil people. It is well acted particularly by these two ladies and parts of the story and interaction with the leads are very entertaining. Sadly the series is let down by the writers as the story takes a quirky individual in Lee Young-ae and makes her stupidly annoying. The ending is a little cobbled together and the humour within the series is mostly a miss. So disappointed as with this cast it could have been brilliant and it parts of the series it is, but then it dips to mundane.
Such a good concept, mesmerising intro, and the best soundtrack I've seen in k-drama so far. Lead is really strong too, it has real Death Note vibe. Shame that action is going downhill pretty quickly. It's not bad, but it could be better. Visually 10/10, writing let's it down...
I really appreciate its style but the plot was sacrificing way too much in favor of its supposed black comedy. Sure the drama had its high moments where the comedy really shined but the endless 12 episodes chase was exhausting and poorly executed. At least there's more to like about it, the drama had a good selection of soundtracks that amplified its stylistic moments. I wish this drama was a movie, it would have been a lot more fitting for what it had to offer. Anyway, the drama seems to be an accurate representation of Lee Young Ae's long hiatuses. You may give it a shot for a fresh watch...
