Pyeongdeung-han sesang

In the conversation between Ali and Cho Sang-woo, after learning Ali's age, the latter tells him that he can address him by his first name (Sang-woo, since in Korea, the family name always comes first). This isn't merely a politeness issue; the full translation is that Sang-woo actually allows Ali to call him "hyung", meaning "older brother", which is used to address older men with whom the speaker has a special bond. Foreign immigrants like Ali are generally regarded as a lower class of citizens. Until that moment, Ali has been submissively bowing and addressing everyone as "sajangnim" (boss), so to his delight, this is the moment where he is finally considered an equal.
