This Is Our Country

The final 4 finale format is well and truly stale. I just felt no investment in this episode because it's followed the same cookie cutter format as every other final challenge for the last many seasons, which has no clear impact on the final result anyway. The first half of the episode could have been from any other season. Then the critiques, for some reason they've clearly decided they're not allowed to say anything critical in the finale, which makes it seem even more pointless and low stakes. At least the final lip sync was great (even though the 'twist' was, again, predictably the same as the last few seasons) and a great winner.

Such a shame, I really liked the season.

A country song about America doesn't translate to everyone, but I'm able to see past what I expect of a finale and see the bigger picture. Speaking of seeing the bigger picture, congrats to the winner, who has had to deal with a lifelong battle against external hatred and internal confusion. It could have been any of the top four or five, but I'm so happy for the winner. Let's grow up, get past our own opinions and expectations, smile, breathe and celebrate a wonderful human receiving recognition.

The winner was a terrible choice. Was she the best? No. Did she have the best evolution? No. Did she have the best lip sync? Definitely not. It seemed the show wanted to push an agenda by crowning a queen that was not deserving, only fan favorite.

There were some choices throughout from the judges that were questionable, but overall, this was a really solid and fair season and I completely agree with the winner.
