Or should I ask: Are you afraid (yet)? Of course the one used in the summary headline is the one most will be more familiar with - so no pun intended as you can imagine. The horror (comedy) is something that will either work for you or not at all ... I liked the mix, but I get if for some (many?) this feels more annoying than anything else. Not every joke hits its mark ... it is quite blood filled though - so be aware of that.
The two leads do a good job - but they won't be too convincing if you do not like what the movie is doing ... or humor and horror combined. Effects are more than decent ... so it's up to you if you are even up for something as .. well weird as this! Better script would have helped ... this is more silly than anything ... still I've seen worse movies.

This is more of a comedy than a horror show. When it come's to horror, it's more of the campy/silly/zany type. At it's heart, it's about friendship - especially of Lucy and Karen. I liked the morality aspects of the movie too. The plot was original and it's so nice to see that in a movie.
All the acting was good, especially for the main characters. It was also great that one of the main characters was named "Karen" and was a nice person. My name isn't Karen, but I know some people with that name, and think the way the name (or any name) has been co-opted to mean something terrible is ridiculous and needs to stop.
It had solid laughs throughout. I don't like gore (but do like suspense), and I only had to shield my eyes from the screen a couple of times. I especially liked the way they handled the "eye injury," and had no problem seeing that. The special effects caused some laughs - in a good way.
I loved the ice cream shop setting. I worked in a ma-and-pa ice cream shop in the 80's and thought they nailed the set/feeling with that one (how it looked and what went on inside it). I loved the spell book and all the humor that went along with it.
I saw this in the theater and didn't know there would be information about the show ahead of time. Wish I'd arrived earlier!
I wish this played in the theater longer. Look forward to streaming it. Would tell anyone to watch!

I stumbled upon this 2022 horror comedy movie titled "Shaky Shivers" by random chance here in 2023. And never having heard about the movie, and given my fascination with the horror genre, of course I had to sit down and watch what director Sung Kang had to offer. And I have to admit that the movie's cover definitely helped to win me over.
The storyline in "Shaky Shivers", as written by Andrew McAllister and Aaron Strongoni, sort of fell short of being impressive. Sure, the movie was watchable, but it was a rather bland viewing experience. I must say that I was expecting a bit more from the movie than what director Sung Kang delivered from the material written by Andrew McAllister and Aaron Strongoni.
While I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, it should be noted that the actresses and actors on the cast list did put on good enough performances to bring the movie to life on the screen and bring the characters to life as well. It was a fairly small cast ensemble though.
Visually then "Shaky Shivers" was okay. The creature design, effects and such were functional and adequate. Nothing you will be impressed by, but it certainly was adequate for a movie such as this.
It felt like this movie was aimed at a somewhat younger audience. And that is perhaps why "Shaky Shivers" fell short of properly entertaining me. And I must admit that I found the movie to be rather devoid of comedy and laughs, making it a rather dull horror comedy experience to sit through. And while I did manage to endure the entire 82 minutes that the movie ran for, this is not a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time. Nor is it a movie that I will recommend horror comedy fans to rush out and get to watch.
My rating of "Shaky Shivers" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

Not everybody can be "Tucker and Dale vs Evil" (which was a very good horror spoof, a classic), this one is boring and fastidious.
It start a bit with the same premise, a funny duo of idiots launched in a horrible situation and you have fun seeing them stumbling along.
The thing is that Tucker and Dale were funny and lovable, those two never made me crack a smile once... I'm sorry, the actresses were not bad actually, it was the writing or the direction, or both... the funny scenes were just not funny, and the whole film end up boring as hell.
The small budget and effects are not a problem, they go with the style, on that part is no problem, but I just end up not having laughed or smiled once, just bored to hell and asking myself why I bothered.

I've seen a lot of "it was boring" posts and I disagree. The chemistry between the actors and the acting itself is amazing, especially with such a small cast. It had a lot of twists and bends, but the story was actually pretty solid, and outrageous, which is what if expect from a movie like this. Yes, there is ridiculousness, but I don't know how you can read the description of this and think you're going to get anything but. Even the special effects wound up being good, though one of them wasn't quite what I wanted, but still wasn't bad. At least just watch the beginning and see what you think. Give it a watch if you're into fun comedy horror.
