We learn quite a bit at this point. A good pace of development, but it is a pity that 8 series have already arrived and only two more remain. A couple of series in the middle were very slow, with a lot of talk that took time. At this rate, a series of 24 series can be created by slowly pulling everything. In short series, this traditionally means that a) in the last two series many events will be compressed, everything will happen in a hurry, without really explaining anything, or b) at the most interesting moment the season will end to make viewers wait a year until next season. Neither option is pleasant. Unfortunately, because I really like both the idea and the performance (except for some weak actors, of course, but they are everywhere).
In short, this show is the best show since LOST, it took only 13 years but we finally have a great show again.
The people with the negative comments are missing the point. This chapter shows the backstory of Sheriff Boyd and his family, how his wife died and why his son doesn't want to talk to him anymore.
Please ignore the negative comments. Some people are just dedicated to hate for the sake of hating.
Negative comment "this make no sense". To you I say this: This is fantasy/horror You knew that from episode one, what are you doing watching episode 8.
Negative comment "Chronologically broken". To you I say this: It's a flashback, non linear is the definition of a flashback.
And I could keep going, but you get the idea.

Really enjoying the series, there always seems to be something happening in each episode as the plot progresses. The acting is good, the dialogue is good. Only problem is, for some reason season 1 episode 1-8 is all I can manage to view on Paramount plus. It also shows this on IMDb when you look up season 1 episodes, showing only eight episodes viewable on Paramount plus so where are the other two viewable? . I am accessing my Paramount Plus subscription through Apple TV and there are only eight episodes listed on here. Why is that? Where is episode 9 & 10 of Season 1? This is as of October 24, 2022.

(From: Episode 8) gives us the backstory and answer of what we all wanted to know, which is "How did Boyd get here and why does his son always hate him?", and i have to say this episode did phenomenal in giving a worthy backstory and answer, something what was done so great in some fantastic way, that it sometimes got me in the feelings a little, just so heartbreaking what happened to all of them.
Definitely one of the highest highlights that this show is made of, so you should definitely watch it the moment you can!!

I have been searching for a show to fill the void that "The Walking Dead" left when they went off. To be honest, when Rick Grimes wasn't around anymore. This show is filling that void for me. There's a Sheriff, with a son and they have tension. Also, TWD had a lot of good character development in earlier episodes that made you like them. That is what this show, especially this episode did for me that I liked.
I was irritated at first when I found out that the Sheriff had a son and that their relationship was fractured. It was a little cliché to me, but I really liked the characters and there is a resolution that I wanted to have happen that did. I hope I'm not giving away too much.
I agree with some of the other reviews in that I don't care too much for time jumping in an episode. It needs to complete one time reference and then onto the next. That is the ONLY thing I didn't like about this episode as that minus that, this has been one of my favorite episodes so far.
I like the Sheriff, Ellis, Fatima, the Father of the family, the doctor woman and the woman that runs the house.
I don't care for the Sara character, the children and wife of the family and Jade. The jury is out about the Kenny Character. I want to like him but I'm not sure yet.
