A sterilized and biased version of Inca history. It doesn't discuss the racialized structure of Inca society. It doesn't discuss the internal power struggles within the empire. It doesn't discuss the year long ruthless Inca campaign against the Chimor. Doesn't discuss the brutal Inca campaign against Chachapoya people nor the bitter resistance that these people put up. It doesn't discuss the failed Inca attempts to subjugate the Mapuche people. It doesn't discuss the uprisings against Inca rule and the sometimes resulting ethnic cleansing. Surprisingly it did mention the fact that the central government could investigate people's homes and seize any property the rulers deemed unnecessary.
However, when the documentary discussed Spain it stated the Spanish "conquered" Muslim kingdoms but doesnt mention the fact the Muslims were in fact occupiers in Spain. In fact the "documentary" paints the Spanish as evil or sub-human.
None of these criticisms are meant to imply the Inca empire was evil. In fact it wasn't much different than most other empires in history. It has good and bad points and played a vital role in advancing the region. But given the spectacular & often stunning footage used by the video, I was hoping it would be married up with an accurate & objective account.
