This is OBJECTIVELY a show that should be rated a 7 or above. People crying in the reviews are probably so used to having a super modern show, with super popular actors with perfect accents, and perfect styling and perfect acting etc etc..
Pulling up references of other shows with the same actors is also nonsensical.
I have never seen any of the actors before, to be honest, nor do i watch many UK shows. Watched this one in one session entirely, its fun, its imperfect, love the plot and characters. Crime comedy is the new thing nowadays, and i dont complain. "Only murders in the building" got me hooked on the genre, and i want more and more!
The only thing that was somewhat annoying is that few of the characters dont seem to know how to get a complete sentence out..like ever...so much stuttering going on. But other than that, its a very nice relaxing show that leaves you wanting more. Unless you are one of those 1-5 ratings, triggered by people with accents and 80s fashion.

I loved this I just wish it had lasted longer and the ending told more of what happened! I think this is one of the best done series I've watched in a while! All the actors where good and realistic! Tom Davis( King Gary) was awesome as well as the others. There wasn't a bad actor in it! Had Guy Ritchie vibes. I'm not sure why it wasn't rated higher with all the junk being produced now a days. Since it was a true story , sadly there won't be a second season( I don't think)!?! But it's been a long time since I've enjoyed something so much as well as liking every character. I just wish the ending had been more fleshed out! Edit because I just watched season 2...
I discovered the 2d season last night when looking for something to watch. I love this series it has a Guy Ritchie vibe all over it! I feel like the episodes are too few but I hope they make a season 3! I'm surprised the score is so low! They've set it up nicely for a season 3! I hoped for a 2 but had no idea what it'd entail but 3 can go any which way! Also reminds me of guilt a bit. American audiences are probably bringing the reviews down but if you like anything Guy Ritche you should like/love this!
I stumbled on this by accident and gave it a shot, binge watching all episodes. The acting was good in parts and not so in just one, for example, what is with Micks accent? I couldn't understand what he was saying in the first episode, it was so exaggerated that he was almost incomprehensible and mumbling words. That really put me off the series, it may me cringe every time he 'spoke'. It was however great to see the 80's clothes and was such a blast from the past. Would I recommend it? Probably not based on Mick's irritating accent, which is a shame as I love British TV series...
Standard cringe/awkward comedy that was fresh 15 years ago. You know what I mean...in the middle of a very tense situation everyone is awkwardly arguing about some trivial, pedantic detail. Wow, hilarious.
Overlayed on top of a standard heist plot from 90s movies complete with the catchy music montages, split screens, horizontal and vertical wipes and dissolves. It's all pretty cliche.

Seeing the PJDN boys in anything will always be worth it for me and likewise normally big Tom Davis but his character's voice in this is terrible can hardly understand him and don't think I laughed once. If you don't know the boys work then I can see this being a bit hard work tbh but their chemistry and timing and the great 80s detail make this worth a watch definitely.

- TriviaAlthough a work of fiction, The Curse is inspired by real-life events - namely the infamous Brink's-Mat robbery that occurred at the Heathrow International Trading Estate near Heathrow Airport, west London on 26th November 1983. 6 men broke into the Brink's-Mat warehouse expecting to steal £3.2 million in cash but discovered the warehouse contained three tons of gold bullion. The robbers escaped with £26 million worth of gold, diamonds and cash. The so-called Curse of the Brink's-Mat millions refers to the early deaths of a number of people allegedly involved in the laundering of the stolen gold.
