Sometimes when you lose, you win ..
MOVIE REVIEW
"F1 The Movie"
Release :27th June, 2025
Genre: motorsport - F1, thriller, action drama.
Great movie and undoubtedly the best so far in the genre.
A must one, for real time F1 thrills across global circuits, of high octane motorsport action and great drama that's rocking theatres globally.
Stellar performances by all, especially the subtle yet redoubtable Brad Pitt, the astute Javier Bardem and resourceful Kerry Condon, in a movie shot over three years from 2022 in actual locations during F1 grand prix races ..
My take on the film is - the gritty and absolute realism depicted onscreen with the viewer always being a part of the action as if in real life. That's what I call - real cinema - of you being one amongst them at all times .. .. and occasionally right in the middle of pulsating action that switches strategies dangerously to achieve goals.
The movie is a wonderful landmark in the genre of motorsport, full of real life action/drama/suspense and many others, which qualifies it for a prominent place in the Hollywood hall of fame along with the pioneering one "Racing" (1969) starring Paul Newman, watched at Grand Theatre, Quilon circa 1971.
The movie can be introspective too, with quite a few lessons for everyone in life, on .. handling losses, over coming desperation, creating multiple strategies and trying them, the need for focus and resoluteness in overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges and working towards it with deep conviction .. yes deep conviction.
In the backdrop of the above, the broad appeal of the movie qualifies it as one that needs to be screened in all establishments right from defence to mundane banking for a whole lot of justifiable reasons ~ pedagogic and otherwise.
The movie runs for 152 minutes.
My rating :10/10 (flawless)
Titbits Shot on a budget of around $ 300 million, subsidised to nearly a quarter by sponsorships at the behest of Jerry Buckheimer, the principal producer renowned for a host of block buster big budget movies, the movie created a new benchmark in 'opening weekend earnings' of $144 million, the biggest in the post Covid era becoming a runaway hit in all territories for it's underlying theme of "the underdog story" that resonates with audiences much like the 2019 runaway hit "Joker" which ultimately grossed earnings crossing one billion dollars.
Hollywood greats like producer Jerry Buckheimer, cinematographer Claudio Miranda, Director Joseh Kosinski and music Director Hans Zimmer all great names with proven DNA coming together once again for this epic movie.
The movie features 4 fast numbers which jell with the theme and performed by great artists life Ed Sheeran. The background score too adds to the real feel of the movie.
Unlike our movies where the audio levels throughout are at a deafening level, this movie is as good as it can be to the ears situationally, adding to the natural allure of the theme.
An unmissable movie .. ..
