Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same

Caught this at the Provincetown film festival. It's in black and white and a parody of old 1950s sci-fi movies. It deals with the adventures of space aliens on Earth. It mostly concentrates on the relationship between lesbian Jane (Lisa Haas) and one of the female aliens.

I won't lie--I saw this just because of the title:) At first I loved it. I laughed long and loud through the first half--but was dead silent through the second half. Basically ALL the jokes you can think of with that plot (and title) are exhausted and then the movie has nowhere to go. Also I STILL can't figure out what the subplot of the two government agents has to do with anything. Still this movie is not a washout. There's some truly beautiful black and white cinematography here so there's always something to look at. Also actress Haas was just great in her role. And, as I said, I had a great time for half the movie. So I give it a marginal recommendation.

Having been lucky to get to see the German premier of this film I must say it was a real joy. Excellent acting by the leads in this gay extraterrestrial romantic comedy, and some comedy scenes from the two agents that had me in stitches. Unlike the other reviewer, I did not find their presence in the work at all out of place, and certainly did not feel the humour petered out. This isn't exactly an emotional movie, yet still made me feel. I laughed, I smiled, and it was wholesomely sweet. I would have liked this to have more 1950s and 1960s style, to reflect its inspiration- sort of like "But I'm A Cheerleader" (1999) did. But, it was still a nice little movie, with really likable characters. I loved the lead character, Jane- who was just sweet as could be, and the alien who liked to play the field totally reminded me of Joan Jett in her playa days- which is all the recommendation you need! 🖤❤🖤

This movie is a delight.

Yes of course the FX are ridiculous - they make no attempt to be realistic. In fact it's obvious they've gone out of their way (at times) to make them ridiculous. If you don't laugh at the ludicrous spacecraft then I think you're missing the point.

The script and acting are top-notch, with some wonderfully laugh-out-loud moments and the movie accomplishes the rare feat of matching wacky sketch-show type comedy with moments of real tenderness and charm. The writing for the two men in black in particular is fabulous, and their performances are right on the money. Actually all the performances are excellent, especially the female lead (Lisa Haas).

We loved it so much we watched it twice within a couple of days. Highly recommended.

A delightful hidden gem just begging to be found. Anyone that hates this movie should not be invited to your dinner party. Go find a way to watch it immediately. It's worth shelling out a few bucks if necessary.
