After watching tron uprising i am glad Disney decided to do it. Good they kept the soundtrack and having Bruce Boxleitner reprise the role of tron was a smart idea, not sure on Elijah wood or Mandy Moore as voices but who knows.

Can't wait for next episode. The anime plus cg works well. Lets hope this series continues for more than one season, the story lines always get better as a series goes on so if you are not sure yet keep watching. Hats off to the creator an A+ job once again great to hear the soundtrack as it suits tron well.

Looking forward for new episodes as they are made.

Like STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS animated series succeeded where its feature counterparts, EPISODES 1-3, failed the franchise, TRON: UPRISING surpasses the recent film, TRON: EVOLUTION, in nearly every way. The impressionistic art design is unique and evocative. The voice acting is first rate. The story lines are surprisingly layered for an animated series, and it does a good job of telling a complete story each episode while furthering the serialized plot. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention Daft Punk's original score and some of the best action sequences I've ever seen choreographed. At the time of this review, only 7 episodes of the first season have been aired. I have watched them all twice (being a dweeb, obviously) and look forward to seeing how TRON: UPRISING continues to explore and expand the Tron universe.

"Tron: Uprising" is a TV Show meant to fill in the gap between the original "Tron", and the sequel "Tron Legacy." It focuses on the rise of Clu's tyrannic regime across the Grid, a virtual world filled with sentient programs. During the beginning of Clu's oppression, a revolution begins to grow, starting with the rogue program, Beck, a simple mechanic who decides to take on the identity of Tron.

From the very first episode, "Tron: Uprising" feels like an energetic mix between the Batman cartoons and "The Legend of Korra," with one of the most creative styles of animation I have seen, and a technologic score and soundtrack that just hums with the sounds of a virtual city. Character designs are mostly angular and artistic, and backgrounds are mostly geometric. The color palette is limited to mostly blues and oranges. The style is simply amazing, and I cannot believe that Disney only approved of a single season.

This show is also not entirely for children. There are adult concepts of forced memory loss, untrustworthy governments, blind devotion, mass genocide of a race, torture, and public execution. And though there is no blood in the show, they manage to get away with a lot of gore by making the "blood" into pixels. Many characters will brutally be crushed into tiny cubes on screen.

"Tron: Uprising" also has great conflict in it, as you are watching other characters reactions to Beck's secret identity of Tron. Some people are glad he is taking action against Clu's Commanders, Paige and Pavel, and the Supreme General Tesler, while others are afraid his actions will result in more oppression to the people of the Grid. For a TV Show that could so easily be a Good Vs. Evil tale, but it gives every character many layers. Good guys will lie and not apologize for certain actions, and bad guys will believe that they are truly doing the right thing for the citizens. Sometimes, main villains even have bad "dreams" of their own defeat. Almost every primary character has an arc that either ends, or would have ended if only another season was approved.

In my opinion, if this series had gone past one season, I believe this could have been the next "Avatar: The Last Airbender." It holds a special place in my heart. Even though this show ended abruptly, the cliff-hanger ending almost feels as if you can interpret what may tragically happen in the future to nearly all of these characters. It is on Disney Plus right now, and I implore you to watch it with an open mind. I would recommend you watch both of the Tron films before this, but in my opinion, it is better than both. This is in my personal top 5 tv shows of all time (though I am a bit biased).

This show has taken the themes lightly explored in the Tron Legacy movie and continued to build on them with a level of care that shows genuine commitment by the cast and crew of this production. Characters are fleshed out, links are formed to Legacy and the whole thing is knitted together with sneaky plots, a beautiful look and a soundtrack that evokes Daft Punks best sounds. Haven't felt motivated enough to review anything in over a decade on IMDb or other sites but this show made me dig out my login details and make the effort. It's tricky to find on TV (especially overseas), but make the effort and buy the episodes online or just buy the upcoming bluray (fingers crossed) and you won't be disappointed. Kudos to all involved. Hopefully Disney will look past the initial ratings and allow a second season to be made. Like Firefly, it would be a shame if this show were canceled based on ratings.

Upon seeing the teaser trailer preview for Tron Uprising around January 2012, I dismissed the series as being nothing that I would have interest in watching. Based off the favorable buzz generated from the first episode, I decided to give the show a chance. Thank god I did.

This version of Tron takes the best parts of the Tron movies, combines stylized CGI graphics that capture the heart of Tron perfectly, mixed up with a wonderful collection of sounds that would make DaftPunk proud, and balances the delivery with a sensation cast of voices.

Give this series a chance, easily one of best American made Sci-Fi series of 2012.

I just can't find enough words to express my first impressions of this show. if the entire series keeps up the caliber and quality of this first episode then this will be a phenomenal mini-series. The animation is finely done, seemingly with great attention to detail and a treat to watch over and over again. Voice acting that exceeds all expectations from top-notch names and a carefully crafted script round off this show, making it the total package. Anyone who is a fan of Tron or just a fan of beautiful animation will be able to enjoy this show. In my opinion ten episodes is far too few but it should be an action packed spectacle to say the least. I'm looking forward to each and every episode eagerly.

Disney chose to take the kiddie-route with their new Spider-Man series released earlier this year, making it appeal more to children by adding silliness. I figured there was a good chance they would do the same with Tron Uprising as well.

I've watched three episodes of Uprising so far and I can safely say that they did not take the kiddie route. Actually, it's the total opposite. The show is kind of "dark". It's definitely geared towards teens and adults. The stories are engaging, with just a touch of humor.

Light Cycle battles, Disc wars, Recognizers and everything in between..the action is amazing.

The animation looks incredible, silky smooth, with plenty of detail in the environments. That attention to detail helps to bring this new animated Tron world to life beautifully. I found myself captivated and totally drawn into each episode until the credits rolled.

The sound, wow. Crystal clear audio and sub-woofer-worthy bass that will rumble your walls. If you have a stereo hooked up to your TV, turn it up.

Lastly, the voice talent- All excellent, but especially Elijah Wood. He nails his role, bringing forth a strong, likable main character. And Bruce Boxleitner...need I say more!?

This show was brilliant. The plot was well paced and the character should each got their deserved development, the animation and art styles were unique and perfectly Tron, and I can't recall a single shoddily delivered line. It had so SO many cool and interesting things going for it, but it was all kiboshed when Disney pulled the plug. I wish we could have gotten even just a few more episodes, to get some semblance of closure. Ultimately, Tron: Uprising is fantastic show and a must watch for any Tron fan.

TRON was a very special movie - combining the earliest efforts of CGI with a storyline that was far too confusing for people of the 80's. It was good; could have been better, but I can't see much to complain. People still remember it three decades after it was made. Very few movies can boast such a claim.

The rest of the franchise has been hit or miss - mostly "miss". TRON 2.0 was a good game, although it was underrated and mostly ignored. TRON: Evolution was a mediocre game with a weak storyline. But TRON: Legacy was the worst of them all - millions of dollars spent on a completely forgettable story with some of the best FX ever made. It was a major disappointment.

Enter TRON: Uprising. I was very intrigued when I saw the teaser trailer on the "Legacy" Blu-Ray - and I was absolutely blown away when I saw the first episodes. This is TRON done right. The animation is nothing short of astonishing - the artistic direction, fluid movements, and incredible set design beat anything that came before on the franchise, and it's quite frankly, the most gorgeous cartoon made for TV I've ever seen. I'd probably not be disappointed if I saw a movie with this kind of quality.

The storyline actually makes sense. What took Disney 1.15 hours to tell during "Legacy", this show tells us in 20 seconds (no exaggeration) - Flynn is nowhere to be found, Clu rules, TRON is missing. That's the way it should have been done in the movies. Each episode is interesting and fills in the details of what happened to the TRON universe during all those years.

Each new episode brings a new surprise - be it story arcs, animation, special effects, music - it's just mind-blowing.

Disney finally did TRON right. It only took them 30 years!

After a couple of thoughts i decided to watch it.. was not disappointed at all.. Just the fact that stars like Elijah Wood and Mandy Moore are voicing the characters was a sign of an influential production..

The animations are very authentic to the ones that are on the movie, in a way, so is the story line. some how this Disney production have adapted the Manga type action scenes in a more impressive manner.. which is one of the biggest touch point..

the other is the Music.. they are sticking to the Original sound track.. which many will love.. but it could be much more impressive if the Daft Punk will release some new tracks for the series alone.. still the music is alluring..

the characters seem to promise a complicated storyline.. and they certainly better add more characters up as they go..

Excellent art direction is one of the hallmarks of this series. Combine that with great writing, exceptional voice acting, compelling score, and a ton of interesting characters and plot twists, and you have a winner.

Plenty of call-backs to both TRON films show that the writers and designers are unafraid to apply their formidable attention to detail. This is a project to be proud of.

Once-again though, Disney has shot themselves in the foot by canceling this series. Yet another critical mistake by Disney management in the last few years.

And this comes from someone who considers the original Tron (1982) film to be the best film of all time and my favorite.

This animated series is unwatchable. It takes the worst of Tron : Legacy and places it in a blender. What comes out the other end is brown, sticky and smells. It makes Power Rangers look like a literary work.

No discernible story, completely unexplainable plot, non existent characters. It clearly exists only because someone, somewhere said it has to.

Entire work set inside the "Tron" universe with no explanation whatsoever as to it's existence or what is going on. 70% of each episode consists of fight scenes. The whole thing looks like it was set in the real world, not the Tron universe. Even the compressed soundtrack is abysmal.

Being Tron, I really, really did try my hardest to give this one a real chance. I watched up until episode six before I finally decided mid stream finally to just switch the gaddamn thing off and never go back.

If this is the direction Tron is heading in then gawd help it.

Thi was an excellent show! The visual effects and animation were very well done. It was quite interesting as well. The character models looked like a mix of claymation and cartoon, and the environment seemed all Computer-Generated. The voice acting was great and the story, though it seems inconsistent with the films, was well-written.

This show managed to delve deeper into life and culture of The Grid, as the films used it as a side-story, just a world for the movie to exist. Elijah Wood did a great job of portraying Beck, and it was awesome how to guy who played Tron in the original film provided the voice in this show. Isure can't wait for season 2 and hope this show goes down as one of the greatest Disney shows ever created.

Brilliant. Crazy good. Really well animated. Great characters and story lines. Totally loved every moment of this. Why the heck did they not commission many more seasons of Uprising.

Tron Uprising has got to be the best show ever it involves the marvel superhero with lots of great stuff on it like motorcycles great races and disney xd is doing the same thing back in 2012.

Dear Disney, Tron Uprising has surpassed both movies which I truly loved, the show is just not being managed correctly. I have never watched the show live on Sunday at 12:00 midnight. I always watch the show on demand. It doesn't get a lot of play time I noticed and that needs to be fixed. You have a massive hit on your hands and your putting it on the highest shelf possible where only a few can reach it or even see it. If Star Wars the Clone Wars on Cartoon Network aired at the same time as Tron Uprising, it probably wouldn't be nearly as popular as it is today and It's not even that great of a show! Tron runs light cycles around Star Wars! Please Please, bring the show back and please when the third Tron Movie comes out, cast Elijah Wood as Beck, he's perfect for that role!

Excelent story, graphics, voices. Everything regarding this show is top notch.

A pity this company transformed a decade later into a platform that attacked it's main consumers.

We all watched with enthusiam countless cartoons made by Disney. Its main consumers the family always enjoyed watching all the stories that Disney had to told us.

Alas these times are long gone. RIP Entertainment being movies, art, music, games.

We could always go back and see the good things that once were, as for what it comes, it's just darkness.

Nothing left to do then watch this giant crumble to the ground in their own machinations, while they stab their main customers they are doing nothing else but stabbing themselves.

With a free year of D+ I wanted to catch up on the few new/semi-new things that are streaming on that channel. I decided to catch up on the Tron universe. For such an interesting and immersive universe, it's a shame that there's only a handful vessels that tell or expand on this story. While there may be a slew of books and comics that I'm not aware of, off the top of my head I can only think of the two movies, this show, and a video game. With that point in mind, Uprising really should've given us more world building IMHO.

The characters are ok for the most part, but outside of only three, none of them appear in Legacy... strange for a prequel series. Surprisingly enough, Paige, a main antagonist, has the most character development, and is easily the most interesting to me. Beck on the other hand didn't have much of an arc, if any. He's really just Tron 2.0, but is the only other likable new character in this series that actually does something, which still turns out to be not much. The point of Uprising, at least as far as I understand it, is to recruit programs to oppose Clu's occupying force. Other than of course the one-man-army that is Beck, Tron is only able to convince one other person to play an active role.

Now for the really nitpicky stuff. The first Tron movie asks its viewers (figuratively) to suspend their disbelief regarding programs sharing the likeness and even real world duties of their user within a single company, Encom. Uprising stretches that disbelief beyond its breaking point with massive, expansive cities that programs travel to like a person going to work. Why is there snow, rain, and oceans in "the grid" now? What is that suppose to represent? Also, what use are mechanics in a computer system? Wouldn't engineers be more appropriate, or do TPTB think kids wouldn't understand the term?

Having said all that, I still enjoyed being back in the Tron world. I don't know if 18 episodes was their intended series run, but either way I wish the show did more to set up Legacy (Evolution did a better job I think), and I also wish there was more Tron in general.

A beautifully stunning blend of artistry: original, stylistic character design and world building with the gorgeous Tron aesthetic, powerful music, great episodic storylines with a compelling arc, character flaws, betrayals, redemptions, great cast of voice actors. An absolute delight to get lost in this amazing world.

The fact it never got a second season makes this gem all the more precious. I first saw this on Disney XD, but never saw all of it, it became hard to find on the internet. Thankfully, they've had the sense to put it on Disney Plus. I've been raving about this for ten years, just brilliant.

Pros: Direction Animation Music Sound Voice acting Vehicles, machines, characters and location designs.

Cons: -Pretty darn dull computer civilization. The people from this world seems to just go to work and then to a club and then to work again and engage in mundane conversations. These people appears to have no hopes or dreams or gods or questions about their origins. Most of them seem to don't care about the bad guys occupying their cities and you see them even enjoying their games. -Pretty darn dull main character "The Renegade" -Pretty darn dull and unimaginative script. -Pretty darn dull, unimaginative and repetitive Kung-fu fighting. Apparently the only special ability the main character has is punching and kicking. I wish him and Tron could have a little of the "user power" shown by Clue in the original film to modify their surroundings for their advantage. Clue reassemble a recognizer in seconds in the original film.

I have watched the first 14 episodes so far and I will keep watching because I have high hopes that the series will get better. The directing, looks and the music are enough reasons for me to keep watching.

The media of the 80's showcased the wonderful positivity, vitality and goodwill of our fathers. Their stories were lined with purpose and even their advertisements were energetic and upbeat. Their efforts shaped modern American culture to this day, only for today's spiteful generation to tear their timeless efforts down, franchise by franchise, with hateful politics and ideological subversions. "Tron Uprising" is horribly mediocre television, lazily written and poorly plotted, with little meaning or purpose in its application.

I'm a trained voiceover actor with many credits to my name. I know what a job entails and what the profession requires. The voiceover in this children's animated series is absolutely dreadful (I'm sorry to break it to you, but Elijah Wood is rarely a good performer). Only Bruce Boxleitner turns in a proper vocal execution. The computer-generated imagery (CGI) here is very unappealing, an artistic decision made by the current sociopolitical mandate in Hollywood, which wants you and your children to reject beauty and the feminine form. Character traits and backstory don't serve the plot, they serve identity politics. If you want true diversity, do an internet video search for 80's commercials. You'll see female actresses dominate the scene and minorities in their fair share of productions. Now watch an episode of "Tron Uprising" and you'll notice how forced and awkward the "inclusion" is (diversity is only there to enrich the producers, monetarily and socially).

"Tron Uprising" embellishes when it doesn't need to: incompetent writers feel a need to ornament script and plot because they lack confidence. The result is a rambling, piecemeal rendition that can't stay focused on a purpose, exhibiting ego where only story should exist. Characters will state the obvious, act spinelessly, or try to crack a joke, all in feeble attempts to attract attention and create persona. The writers spin their wheels with the boring and trivial because they lack a real narrative. I've been a massive "Tron" fan since childhood, and even I can't be compelled to enjoy this series. As a detriment to a beloved franchise, this animation gets my lowest scoring.

I first heard about this recently on 4chan and was blown away. I'm not a fan of the original Tron and thought Legacy was neat but didn't really care. The visuals in Uprising are mindblowing, the fight scenes are beautifully choregraphed and the really do an amazing job of bringing the Grid to life. All the characters are fantastic and lovable in their own way.

It reminds me a lot of Batman Beyond and Johnny Quest. Every single episode is amazing, there is no filler. Every character introduced has presence and matters to the plot. The cat and mouse game between CLU's forces and Tron/Beck gets progressively more immersive and intense with each episode. The characters are beautifully designed, especially the females. You can tell the people who produced this are in love with the subject matter and it shows in every single frame.

I doubt the new movie will have even 1/10th of the sincerity and majesty of Tron Uprising but maybe we'll actually get more Tron Uprising.

The elements of the Tron franchise are present as well as a new twist in the making of Uprising. The cell-shading technique has been well done with what seems to be it's own and distinctive of other CGAs out there.

Although the story line has been well done in forming the characters up to this point, I think it is time to start blowing open the plot and increasing more battles with General Tesler as it does add more of a reason for him to get "The Renegade".

Beck's growth in the Tron role, by Tron himself, and understanding what Tron has gone through seems to make Beck stronger as time goes on. Beck increasingly understands that the lessons he learns from Tron is not just how to fight, but that every program in The Grid is not perfect...including Tron himself.

To sum it up? What makes Tron is legend and great warrior of the grid isn't just how many programs he defeats, but his actions in what he does for the programs of The Grid as well.

Looking forward to the second season.

I am an absolute fan of the Tron concept. I loved Tron Legacy and in particular I loved the special effects and Daft Punk tracks which were so perfect for the movie. To make an animated series was a bold decision. But... it paid off in a massive way. What an awesome way to bring a new, younger generation, to love the movies which are predominantly loved by those of us born in the 70s or 80s. I can't wait for the movie sequel. The animated series so far has excellent acting, superb animation and excellent story lines/plots.

I do have an issue with comments made by an previous user... firstly of course the series is going to be aimed at young adults... as this is the major audience for the Tron movies thus far it would make sense as they will be the main ones interested in watching the series (der!), and yes being animated it appears aimed at children as they are seeking to gain a new generation's approval in the movies and overall concept... plus it is cheaper than CGI animation. I think this all makes very good sense. Additionally, I didn't even realize that the bad guys are supposedly 'Asian'... what the??? Tesler is a bald white guy who is voiced by Lance Henriksen. The other characters do not seem to be portrayed as typical Asians either, particularly as the characters are voiced by actors such as Emmanuelle Chriquia and Paul Reubens!!! Once again I don't understand where this view has come from?

Away from these comments... it is an excellent series which has very little faults (none that I can see anyway). If anyone doesn't like it then they need I encourage them to make their own version and see if they could do better. I doubt they could... no... I know they couldn't!

Awesome job, can't wait to see more episodes.
