Modern Love: Mumbai is a retelling of the NYT's original Modern Love which is based on modern love stories based in New York. This is in fact more than just a retelling. It is an Indianised (and also Mumbaiya) version which not only delve deeper into the romance aspects but also the human and family emotions which Indian stories are known for.
The stories range from subtle new age romance in 'I Love Thane' to the gullible extravaganza of 'Raat Rani'. On one hand we have these taboo breaking yet already heavily experimented love stories in 'Baai' and 'My Beautiful Wrinkles' while on the other hand we have totally refreshing and unique storytelling like 'Mumbai Dragon'.
This series not only celebrates the new age romance but also portrays the repurcussions that love can have when that love is set in a cosmopolitan setup like Mumbai.
My absolute favourites are 'I Love Thane' for its simplistic approach to love, it is a signature Dhruv Sehgal romance, and Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Mumbai Dragon' for telling such a different story from the rest.

All stores in this series start with good subject but slowly looses the plot. Except for the peppy and hilarious Mumbai Dragon & a bold but realistic My Beautiful Wrinkles, there's nothing much going on in the rest of the stories.
Vishal Bhardwaj does an awesome job with the age old subject the relationship between a mother her son and the son's partner.
Alankrita Shrivastava also beautifully handles the topic of love and romance and the expectations around it especially when there is a big age gap between the participating couple.
All actors have tried to give their best but its the writing and the overall treatment that a let down.
I would say its an honest attempt to show something fresh but still lacks the emotional punch.

What an ensemble of talented actors and directors! Heartily created stories...beautifully rendered. Many moments from the series touch a nerve...many scenes take us back to the fond memories lived in the lanes of Mumbai. Do watch once.
Late to the party but finally watched Modern Love Mumbai. An anthology of beautiful love stories that are refreshing to watch.
What a scene stealing performance by Fatima Sana Shaikh in Raat Rani. My favourite of the lot.
Baai directed by Hansal Mehta is another lovely story with such a sensitive performance by Pratik Gandhi. Not to forget some gorgeous tunes.
Mumbai Dragon has Vishal Bhardwaj's stamp all over.
Sarika looks ageless in My Beautiful Wrinkles and delivers an excellent performance.
The weakest of the lot for me was I Love Thane despite a delightful Masaba.
The last one Cutting Chai is immensely watchable thanks to Arshad Warsi & Chitrangada Singh.
Overall in 5 out of 6 stories women steal the show.
A perfect ode to the city of Mumbai with all the stories culminating together neatly.

This series could have been any city. Why did they name it Modern love mumbai ? Nothing mumbai about the series. Good attempt . But if you are naming it mumbai - expected more of the city in stories.
