The Tank Museum

The Tank Museum developed one of the best channels on YouTube, with a steady stream of interesting videos. Their selling point was part short but informed videos of tanks, and part longer history videos majoring on the expertise of the museum staff and attracting lots of excellent guest hosts for their 'Top 5' and 'Bottom 5' tanks series. Basic stuff, but extremely well done.

If I had written this two years ago I would have given a 10* review. High quality, informed analysis from a team of highly engaging presenters who were genuinely passionate about the subject material. However over the last year or so output seems to have dropped off a cliff, both quantitative and qualitative. Losing David Fletcher to retirement was always going to be difficult but they have a wonderful team more than up to the job. It just feels like they've shifted priorities or reduced effort on their videos. That would be disappointing but some recent videos have been very poor. Some feel more like corporate PR pieces for the MoD and manufacturers while some on recent world events seem to have fallen into just regurgitating a 'current thing' narrative. I would probably offer 3* or 4* for their output this year (2024). My high rating is for the wonderful back catalogue of older videos, hopefully they will bounce back.
