The Viscount Who Loved Me

I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1 and have seen most episodes multiple times. I also haven't read the books, so it helps that I'm not making that comparison. I'm a big fan of Pride & Prejudice and season 2 reminded me a lot of that. Kate and Anthony had better chemistry even though they weren't together than the Duke and Daphne did their entire season. I also really liked the bits of humor throughout the season. I haven't cared for the Featherington storyline in either season though and I wish we saw them less. I also wish we'd gotten more time this season with Kate and Anthony together as a couple, but I guess they'll pop up next season. Like most, I was a big fan of the Duke in season 1, but I didn't miss him this season. That said, his lack of presence was obvious though because Daphne was very much in the season and at big events, it was odd that he wasn't there. All in all, season 2 was a good one and is worth the watch.

I really eased into Season 2 thanks to Season 1 setting the show up so well. I continue to be impressed and pleased by the diversity in this period drama. What impressed me the most about season 2 was the use of two Tamil Indian actresses as the leading females. This really meant something and it's so good to see this representation of all people on such a big show. So I applaud Netflix for taking this step.

Season 2 was quite good, I almost binged it due to the interesting storylines. We all knew Anthony and Kate Sharma were going to be the endgame but this typical love story was not bad viewing. The dialogue remained polished and easy on the years. Some people complained to me about the use of modern music (instrumental) in the show. I for one quite like it as the music was still transformed and nicely adjusted for the period drama and it worked. Overall a decent season.

I have no idea what happened in the writer's room in between season one and two of this show, but whatever it was, keep it coming. I watched the first one and laughed the whole thing through because I found it so ridiculous, but I actually fell in love with the main couple on this one - I actually VERY MUCH enjoyed their slowburn romance and their intimate scenes felt earned and never missed.

The entire drama and plot of the season also felt more fun to watch, and the only reason I'm giving it a 9/10 really is because the side romances of Colin and Penelope and Eloise and what's his name felt so forced I was annoyed to watch their scenes.

I don't know who the bridgerton team thinks they're fooling by pretending this version of Eloise likes men, much less by pretending like her "romance" alongside Colin and Pen's ""fling"" (if you can call it that) can carry a season the way Anthony and Kate did. Whatever they do next, I hope they realise that and keep the great romance writers responsible for the main couple, because they sure know what they're doing.

I loved this season. While it wasn't super true to the writing, it still had the heart of the book and I appreciate that.

My only complaint is that there was too much side story. There simply was not enough Anthony and Kate and that really stinks. I felt like them finally getting together was rush and it is such a flaw. I would have loved to seen more of them together.

My interest in the whole show was fanning as the first season progressed.. about to give up all together and having lost all interest.. season 2 surprised by demonstrating the power of restraint, better pacing, improved direction.. and the chemistry between the two leads is undeniable. The ratings don't lie. It screams romance novel but the sheen and classy approach lift the bar to new heights.
