Just finished watching this film. I went in despite the bad reviews I read and I'm so glad that I watched this beautifully curated story.
' To accept and be happy with what you actually are, rather than worrying and comparing yourself to others' is all that it wants to say. Some films are to be watched with all your heart and an open mind. Today, we are working mindlessly to present an image of ourselves in front of this world. But in the end, all that's going to remain is the truth. So why not accept it?
The message that they are giving us is so much more important than the minor flaws in the screenplay. I absolutely loved it with all its small imperfections. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

After a long time, a simple, feel good movie. It reminds us not to run after things you want, but to love and nurture what you have. It definitely brings good feeling of love and warmth between husband-wife relationship and once again make you fall in love with your spouse. The screenplay which is experimented, actually worked out and will get loved by the masses. It reminds you to live life in a simple way by loving people. All the characters were so beautifully portrayed, especially Varun and Janhvi in their leading roles. Direction, writing, screenplay, background scores - all were so good. Should have released out in theaters; a well deserving successful film!!!

Bawaal , directed by Nitish Tiwari is the story of Ajay ( Varun Dhawan) & Nisha(Janhvi Kapoor) set in Lucknow. Ajay is a self obsessed, narcissistic teacher who is only concerned about his image in society. He treats his newly wedded wife Nisha very badly as she suffers from epilepsy and he considers her a "defective piece". In a last ditch effort to save her marriage, Nisha takes a trip with Ajay to Europe and sparks off events that change their lives forever!!
The direction by Nitish Tiwari is awesome and he brings the love story to life with great cinematography, a decent music score & a fantastic chemistry between Dhawan and Kapoor. Their love story is handled with great sensitivity & will surely touch your heart !!
Both lead actors have given inspired performances. A fine balance between comedy and emotional scenes is maintained very well all throughout. A fun filled cameo by the boisterous Gujju Gang who provide some well needed comic relief deserves a mention too!!
Even though the narrative seems to slow down at times, the film is very relatable and will appeal to lovers of the ROMCOM genre.
Going with 3/5 for the film + 0.5 star for the superb acting by the lead pair !! .. Adios 🙂!!

With a usual story onboard Nitesh tiwari carefully masters the art of film making with some intelligent screenplay well supported by core team of Ashwini Iyer and piyush Sharma which adds some value added human emotions that strikes straight to the heart & thanks to 2nd world war without which this project is just another "BAWAAL"
Mithesh mirchandani handles the visual grandeur for what it requires for a romedy flick while charu shree editing does a crispy work that keeps the soul of the movie flowing at a study pace...
After a great work of "DANGAL" & underdog "CHICCHHORE" this flick does take a scenic route which is a Zara atke type for Nitesh movie but doesn't disappoint ...
Overall it gets u a Midas touch to find happiness of what u have which concludes a strong recommendation for a typical ott movie based on expenses we spend on a single movie these days.
When we think about Bollywood romance, flashes of classic SRK movies with vivid visuals and over-the-top caricatures immediately spring to our minds. However, the stylisation and the overall approach have evolved drastically and gradually moulded into a more relevant shape keeping our modern-day lifestyle and civilisation in mind. Albeit, the gist has remained identical. And thus, making every other romantic feature somewhat alike to some extent.
"Bawaal" attempts to break out of that norm!
While it uses some well-established tropes & cliches to lay the foundation of the lead couple, the kind of parallels it draws afterwards to build that relationship further is quite unmatched. Tracing way back to the horrific events of the Second World War, the story puts lots of effort to symbolise the difficulties and dilemmas of our minds to that of a time of absolute horror when all participating nations of the War and their innocent people went through inconceivable hardship and misfortune.
They endured Pain which is beyond comprehension.
Now such comparisons may come across as naive & pretentious to some people, and that is completely understandable cause it looks like Nitesh Tiwari (the director) wanted to tone down the actual severity of the circumstances so that his work could be widely accessible, thus resulting in a byproduct that lacks mandated sincerity and fervour.
Nevertheless, the tender chemistry between Varun and Janhvi made my two hours worthwhile. And I like that they both were committed to their roles and played their respective parts with utmost honesty and conviction and thereby making it one of the most interesting pieces of work coming from Bollywood.
