The Decider

The Decider is one of the most enjoyable and heartfelt episodes of Bluey. It mixes the fun and banter of sporting fandom rivalry with the emotion associated with family relationships.

As a rugby fan I naturally love the plot as it takes place during the State of Origin and uses the event to stage great banter and sight gags. I particularly love the recognisable behaviour seen within fandom and the children's perspective of it all.

As other reviewers have mentioned it has an emotional core of the title's real meaning, when a child character is put in the difficult position of having to choose between parents. The implication this has on the theme of divorce makes it all the more heartbreaking to contemplate.

Being a Bluey episode, it naturally ends on a very positive note, which brings a smile to my face every time.

This has got to be the best episode since the one in the 80's. Made me laugh out loud and also pulled at the heart strings. So many heart warming moments.

If you call Australia home, particularly Queensland you're going to really love the theme of this episode, The State of Origin. This season gets better and better and continues to remind me of the fun I got up to as a child.

The only kids show I watch with my young daughter and actually enjoy as much as her. Maybe a little more.

This show just keeps on amazing me. This episode really brought out the emotions during the end. "The Decider" brings together the Retriever and Heeler neighbors and their kids to watch a suspenseful football tournament. Throughout the episode, Chucky struggles to identify with which team he wants to be on, as both of his parents are on separate teams. This conflict seems to strongly hint towards divorce and the pain/confusion that children might feel while going through it (they may have to "choose" sides). The writing in this episode is wonderful as always, but the music is on another level, especially during the scene where Chucky chooses which side he will be on. The episode ends on such a beautiful note as well with everybody coming together.

Bluey has already accomplished so much in the short time its been on air/stream, and as already touched on so many important topics - I can absolutely see a bright future with this show. 10/10.
