Mason's Rats

This episode was awesome. The animation was well done, the gore was effective, and the overall tone was brilliant. The right balance of humor and action. Kill Team Kill episode could learn a lot from this one, as it's obvious these episodes were made by entirely different teams.

Yeah, it's a good story. Maybe with too "fairy tale" of an ending, but maybe that's because it's not only an allegory of the evils and horrors of war, but also a display of hope, that war can not only come to an end, but arrive at a conclusion that is met with mutual admiration and newfound respect.

It's extremely violent for a light-hearted message, and with such cute rats too. But a solid story.

Love, Death + Robots: Mason's Rats (2022) follows a farmer who finds he has a pest problem when the rats on his farm start fighting back. This episode had a fun and silly concept, and I was impressed! I had a lot of fun with it, and found it funny! It's definitely one of the strongest episodes of this season.

The animation was really good but it wasn't as unique as other animation showcased in the series as it was a bit too goofy however I did like the attention to detail! The setting was really beautiful too, and it was quite visually gruesome without being too overbearing!

The sound design was pretty good, and added to the fast and action packed nature of the episode. Also, I really liked the bagpipes used in the score, it was super fun to listen to!

I really liked the voice action for this one, and I found the main character to be funny and likeable! The humour in this episode made me chuckle quite a lot, which I was pleased with as I don't usually like the humour in this show. Also, I appreciated how the writers managed to give a weird sense of humanity to the rats and made the audience really sympathise with them!

The episode was very fast paced and action packed, there was never a dull moment! I thought it was the perfect length too, it told a very simple story quickly but effectively and was super engaging. I also really liked the wholesome and sweet ending!

This episode is well done technically, starts with an interesting premisse, but the further story falls apart and loses itself in gore and action and finalizes with an unmotivated moral in the end that misses the satirical concept of this show.

The rats are well-done, the characters are efficient. This episode is just a fun ride, not more, nor less.

A one-time forgetable watch.

I didint know where it was going to end up but I'm happy with where it did. Felt like it was a pretty spot on episode for the title of the series... Love, death & robots.
