I was enjoying the series until this episode. This episode includes much more than what I call the new normal in sex scenes, nudity and action where you would have gotten an X rating in years past; this episode has straight up pornography, with long, lingering scenes, with both his and her-how to have sex instructions! Sorry, but you can't unsee or unhear this one. The emotional issues the show grapples with could be portrayed with less graphic means.
I can only hope that new tv shows don't follow suit or I will have to stop watching all together. I don't watch TV to watch porn, I want entertainment, education, action and substance. This show started out with the right ingredients...it just went too far.

What an rollercoaster! Exquisite set of scenes one after the other. Passionate, heartfelt. Lighting, angles, music, sounds, on point. Transported impeccably between scenes with a swift contrast of emotions. Young Catherine and Nancy deserve much of the credit. Their acting is intense and lead the way in both their own context.
Storyline got a bit repetitive but in a way, Cuaron is trying to weave strong emotions into a simple story and adding time and detail is the only way to do it. He is able to create unique scenes, bizarre yet familiar. You cheer, hate and suffer with the characters all along the deep, spiraling, journey to a hopefully equally emotional ending.
Fingers crossed.

Half of this episode missy be the most awkward and drawn out sex scene in any series. The scene is cut into pieces that are interspersed thorough the entirety of the episode. The scene is borderline pornographic. The two protagonists look like they are pretty much the same age but behave as if one of then was 30 and the other a 15 year old boy who giggles when he hears the word "sex". It's unclear why the scene need to take up half of the episode. It seems gratuitous and it's made so much worse by the awkwardness of it all. It's a combination of bad writing but also bad acting or direction. I hope the show can move on from this.

Stephen Brigstocke: I remembered a poem I used to teach. A poem that Mark Twain placed upon his daughter's headstone. "Warm summer sun, Shine kindly here, Warm southern wind, Blow softly here. Green sod above, Lie light, lie light. Good night, dear heart, Good night, good night."
