Murder by the Sea

We love Anjan Dutt. As a singer. Not as a web series maker. After the hill story, we thought he'd stop. He did'nt. I get it, he wants to make bad series'. Atleast he could have used another Agatha Christie plot this time. But no, he did'nt. He went original. And there lies the problem.

The story doesnt exist. A poorly structured, convoluted tale with too many twists and turns and coincidences. After a point, it is almost as if the makers of this series are insulting the intelligence of their audience.

The acting is immature and hammy. Anjan Dutt himself is the only redeeming factor in the acting department.

Dialogues are childish and jerky. Its hard to imagine that the man who wrote Bela Bosh and Ami Brishti Dekhechhi would associate such banal use of the Bengali language with his own name.

Overall, a very poor creation. Disappointing.

Directed by ace bengali director Anjan Dutt, this series focuses on the murder of a prominent businessman in Puri and the investigation carried out to catch the murderer.

The Goenda (Detective) here is an acclaimed writer of crime fiction ,Ananya Chatterjee who also suffers from bipolar disorder caused due to a childhood trauma. Along with her director husband Anjan Dutt, Ananya has recently relocated to Puri to help her recuperate. She gets invited to a party which starts the chain of events that culminate in murder. The list of suspects include the victims son , Arjun Chakraborty, the lawyer, the secretary, Payel Sarkar ( the mistress) and a photographer looking for scandalous pics of the deceased actress wife.

Cast and acting not bad , but can be better especially the protagonist who hams a lot 😁.

Story is decently paced with something or the happening in each episode. Beach locales of Puri have been well showcased.

A simple whodunit actually... I could figure out the murderer in the 3rd episode itself.

Watch it and try to catch the killer before the series does it for you... All the best!!

While episode 1 starts on a high, it meanders off to boredom soon after. The protagonist is depicted so idiotically that I got a headache after watching her over 8 long boring episodes. The climax was no shocker and anyone can guess it if they have watched quite a few detective series in the past. Most of the characters are unnecessary to the plot, with too many stupid backstories that do not seem to converge in the end. SKIP THIS ONE and better re-watch some good old series like EKEN BABU on HOCIHOI.

This series is clearly inspired by Agatha Christie's famous style. But the problem was in how the central character unraveled the plot at the end. There were some superficial logics. Had that portion been a little bit clue based, it would make this a strong thriller. Moreover, some characters were merely added as probable suspects, just to make the plot more complex. However, towards the end some of them lost their significance. And that makes the gist very little, and the story full of fillers.

The veterans performed better, but that was poor for the youngsters.

After a long time saw a well-acted gripping thriller. Bengali web series are notorious for craps. This was a breath of fresh air. Acting of Ananya Chatterjee and Anjan Dutt was par excellence. Please see it.
