I am sure that Alan Carr is a really nice guy. But, in this series it is all buffoonery. It's all about Alan, not Agatha. I can't believe the professional critics loved it. Maybe because of who he is.
For real Christie fans it was a bit disappointing. There were a few good moments when showing photos I'd never seen, but most of it was kind of silly.
Perhaps there are some Agatha Christie fans who truly enjoyed this series as just a lovely piece of fluff about her, which it surely is. I won't say that it has no value at all, but it's not anywhere near all of the stars that it seems have been given by professional critics.

For those confusing this with a serious documentary, consider the source. Alan Carr is droll but not known for historical research.
As a lifelong Christie fan, I've been watching this side by side with Lucy Worsley's more academic series on Dame Agatha. It's possible to enjoy both sides of the discussion. And I think Christie would have chuckled at Carr's show. She certainly enjoyed travel and food and even surfing and motorcycles. There is nothing wrong with Carr immersing himself in her world for a few laughs.
Sometimes you just have to kick up your heels and have fun. This is a pleasant addition to the world of Agatha Christie.

I am very interested in Agatha Christie, sadly this 1st program is a real let down.
Alan as we all know is a great advertisment for himself.
He does nothing to show what an amazing writer and person she was The locations were lovely.
To get to know Agatha read Agatha Christie's auto biography she wrote in her 70s reviewed by Woman's Own magazine as 'the best things she ever wrote' and 'Come tell me how you live' about her travels with her second husband Max in Syria in the 1950s available on Kindle.

Alan Carr spends most of the programme talking about just about everything but Agatha Christie. I'm sure food is important but really we don't need to know this much about it, steer back to Agatha Christie, and leave dressing up in woman's clothes for another programme.
Just watched the last episode and if anything it got worse. Hardly a mention of Agatha Christie at all, just endless nonsense about Alan Carr dressing up! What a waste of the chance, should have given the series to Lucy Worsley.
