*** Saturday Night Malayalam Movie Review***
Starring Nivin Pauly , Siju Wilson Saiju Kurup Aju. Verghese in lead role...
Directed by Roshan Andrews
Penned by Naveen Bhaskar...
A comedy movie made with excessive ingredients of artificial comedy and hatred kinda performances...
Plot of the Movie..
The lead characters of the movie are school time friends. Among them Stanley alias Nivin Pauly is a person who always 24/7 thinks of his friends. For him without them life is a hell. One Saturday night an incident happens and how this impact their friendship forms the rest part of the story...
Analysis of the Movie
The beginning of the 1st half was going quite ok, few comic moments, made watchable.
The second half was just dragging, it was giving a feeling to the audience a sugarcane being crushed again and again till its last.
Nivin Pauly comic performance at initial level was laughable but after that it was kinda of hatred giving approach to the audience..
Saiju Kurup , Siju Wilson at many situations, their comic performances were artificial.
Unnecessary casting of Sanya Iyaapan.
Grace Anthony in her limited space had given a notable performance.
Overall, the concept of friendship, its loosing importance in recent times was actually good but the screenplay falls a nose div making a disaster movie at the box office.

Not sure how someone can even think of making such movie unless they are under the influence of substance. Movie have no convincing story line , nothing close to reality or even fantacy. This is just madness created out illogical thought process.
This movie is a disgrace to well known Malayalam movie industry and those behind the movie need immediate attention to their mental health.
Complete waste of time for those who spend time to enjoy their weekends.
Story, direction , cenematography , screenplay not a single item that can rate one out of 10. If there was a rating zero would have rated zero.

Abysmal performance clubbed with childish film making. What a blunder of a movie !!!
I doubt whether the makers themselves have watched the movie before releasing it or not !!!
A mediocre attempt in creating another "Thallumala" style movie. But failed miserably.
It's just unbelievable that someone who starred and portrayed his characters so naturally in "Premam" and "Action hero Biju" could act this bad. It's high time that Nivin take good cinematic choices.
The lead character is so artificial that we won't talk in English (Those who watched will understand) for some time. Nivin had Mohanlal to rescue the period drama he did so unpreparedly, but this had no one.

For a movie that revolves around friendship, it's difficult to understand why Stanley, Sunil, Ajith, and Justin remain friends. Ajith and Justin can't stand eachother for personal reasons, Sunil is such an annoying presence in public (and wrecking his friends' lives on several occasions), and Stanley is portrayed as the well-off, quirky problem-solver. Naveen Bhaskar (who has scripted some funny films in the past) gets the notion of contemporary friendship completely wrong, even if his intentions may be silly and harmless. In real life, if you have friends like these guys, it'd be best to stay away from them.
Stanley's quirkiness is the film's trump card, but it's a total swing-and-a-miss. The mental health and de-addiction aspects are treated as mere excuses to build moments and serve as nothing notable. Not only is the script lacklusture, Rosshan Andrrews is the wrong choice for director. Instead of picking apart the fallacies in the script and making the writer freshen up his thoughts, he makes his (usually excellent) cast work around all the nonsense in it. They can only do so much when the characterization itself is patchy and their supposedly unbreakable bond can hardly be felt in the film.
The only things I liked about the film are the following:
There's definitely some potential in the plot. Imagine if the friendship had been established well in the first half (with bits and pieces of their adolescent years shown with a younger cast), the "drifting apart" episode was properly fleshed out, and the unlikely reunion of the foursome making sense to aid Stanley heal from his trauma, alongside some healthy realizations. If Naveen Bhaskar gave me the first draft of his script, I think I could've done wonders with it.

The only things I liked about the film are the following:
- Stanley's portable tape recorder and his gang's "vibing dance"
- A few lines in the second half that guys in their 30s now can relate to
- The realization that friends you make in your childhood/adolescence are the ones you'll always want around more, yet life always takes them away

Nivin Pauly & Rosshan Andrews name pulled us to watch the movie. But turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments. Jokes make you angry, not laugh. Most of the time we don't even understand why certain situations are shown. All the scenes are just repetitions of what we have seen in earlier movies. But they were presented better. Beauty of Mysore City is also missing in the visuals.
Wouldn't like to stop a movie midway but had to stop in 30 min.
All previous Rosshan Andrews movies, hit or miss, had a minimum class. Although I didn't like the ending of Salute, it was good till then. This time with his own story, he failed miserably.
