The kids though learn more about infamous pirate Tak Rennod. He sought the lost treasure of Al Attin.
As they find themselves on the luxury planet of Lanupa, the kids also learn that Jod Na Nawood is known under many different names.
Just who is he? What are his motives? Can the kids really trust him?
The episode gives some clues about Jod. He cannot be trusted but he still remains an enigma.
The search for treasure gives nods to Indiana Jones. The kids learn that this is not some innocent adventure yarn they have landed into.
Jude Law's character, honestly, started to irritate me, which shows that he is acting very well and that everything was written perfectly for that purpose. For me, he has even become the highlight of the series, which previously belonged to the Droid and its captain, and sometimes the little elephant.
And something worth highlighting is that, so far, this is a series that stands entirely on its own, without appearances from old characters that might stir excitement among us fans. Not that this is a problem, but we must appreciate the fact that the series thrives on its script, completely independent of the larger universe of Star Wars.
The pirate theme, which has run through most of the series, continues to bring a fresh perspective to the "Star Wars" universe. This episode's setting - a seemingly idyllic intergalactic spa resort concealing a network of underground tunnels and booby-trapped chambers - perfectly blends the series' adventurous tone with its knack for subverting expectations. The writers and director Jake Schreier have crafted an experience reminiscent of classic treasure-hunting adventures, full of hidden dangers, clever puzzles, and that sense of wonder we associate with stories like "The Goonies." The decision to hide the next piece of the puzzle under a luxurious spa resort is a stroke of genius, highlighting "Skeleton Crew's" ability to blend whimsy with danger. This episode takes us to yet another fascinating corner of the galaxy, proving the show's commitment to world-building. The lavish setting provided a sharp contrast to the harrowing underground layers, where every step was fraught with peril. From deadly lasers to ancient mechanisms springing to life, the booby traps added an edge-of-your seat thrill to the episode, keeping viewers thoroughly engaged. The episode also gave us a deeper look into Jod, one of the series' most intriguing characters. As a reluctant protector, he often oscillates between his own self-serving motives and his growing sense of responsibility for the children. His ability to comfort and guide the children with sage Jedi wisdom showcases his softer, more compassionate side. Yet, as the episode progressed, his true motivations came to the forefront, reminding us that Jod is far from a perfect hero with solid morals.
"You Have a Lot to Learn About Pirates" is another standout episode in "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew," seamlessly blending thrilling adventure with rich character development. Its homage to classic adventure films, inventive setting, and emotional storytelling make it one of the series' most memorable chapters yet. With twists, turns, and heartbreak aplenty, this episode sets the stage for an exhilarating final half of the season.
This particular episode is paces perfectly for kids. It takes all of the prior challenges and weaves them together for a wonderful high point; and a true test for heroes. They are going to have to work together and overcome their fears of they ever want to get home.
Each actor did a phoenominal job mixing sereios feelings and humor. Kiddos to the actors and the writers of this episode!
Goonies - I challenge you to a captain's duel.
¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaIn the conversation where Jod discusses attachments, he also says "Your focus determines your reality." This line was also said by Qui Gon Jinn in Star Wars. Episodio I: La amenaza fantasma (1999).
- ErroresSome people are claiming the prop of the Ark of the Covenant from Los cazadores del arca perdida (1981) appears in Tak Rennod's treasure lair, specifically next to Wim when they first enter lair at 31:44. However close inspection shows this to be incorrect, the table next to Wim does bear a slight resemblance, but it's much too short both length and height wise; additionally the Ark had much longer carrying handles and the decorations on it were different, the most notable being the figures of two angels on the lid with their wings touching.

Pokkit: Do my eyes deceive me, or is that Dash Zentin? In the flesh!
Wim: Dash Zentin!
Neel: How many names does he have?
Jod Na Nawood: What an unexpected delight! Pope...?
Pokkit: It's Pokkit.
Jod Na Nawood: Pokkit. How long has it been?
Pokkit: Since you stole my bounty and left me drowning in a pit of leeches.
Jod Na Nawood: Yeah... no hard feelings, hm?
Pokkit: None whatsoever! In fact, I tried to find you - you know, just to make sure you knew there was no bad blood. Funny thing, though: No one I met ever heard of a "Dash Zentin".
Jod Na Nawood: Ah.
