Thymesia

I was excited to play Thymesia but after spending a number of hours on it it's very disappointing. The developers are clearly fans of Soulslike games but do not understand what's makes them so good.

In a nutshell the main issue in this game is combat mechanics which is the most important element of this type of game.

Stiff, no flow and enemy mechanics seem to operate oblivious to what they are being subjected to. The devs need to go read the abundant feed back on the forums and hopefully do better next time.

Even at it's cheaper price it's a waste of money at this moment. If the devs can patch the common issues it could be an above average game.

Thymesia is an incredible action game inspired by the likes of Dark Souls but more so Bloodborne and Sekiro. I didn't want to play it initially because of all the hate it was getting online, but when I bought it on sale a while ago to try it out, I loved it so much!

The setting is brilliant and haunting with grotesque gothic designs, the story is servicable but keeps a good pace, the enemies and levels were stellar although sometimes repetative, the bosses were incredible for the most part and satisfying to overcome, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing with many bangers, and the combat (while sometimes a bit janky) is incredibly good and fluid. Although the game is short, it's well worth playing and is a breathe of fresh air from the MANY hundred hour long games today.

If you're into soulslike games or just want a fun and challenging experience, Thymesia is a must play.

Truly an underatted gem that needs more attention.
