- On the 60th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's passing, this documentary provides a unique portrait of the screen icon from her own perspective. In contrast to the many films made and books written about her, this one offers to give her back her voice, through the interviews she gave, the books she wrote and the fragments she left behind. For the first time, it will be a matter of understanding how Norma Jeane Baker created the iconic Marilyn Monroe. Because Marilyn was not born Marilyn, she became her.—Canon y mus
- It's refreshing and autobiographical style gives it's presentation ease. Without networking or personal support as an orphan she approached stardom intellectually by purchasing anatomy books, rehearsing her smile for hours and continually reinventing herself. She lived under the guise that her past disqualified her and alienated her but she never realized it's how most humans feel at the core of their individualism. Her rise was extraordinarily quick and it's ups and downs typical of a superstar. All of the things she did worked but she didn't have leadership to tell her so. Instead she seemed guided by from above as if God determined beforehand she was to succeed in spite of and maybe out of nothingness. Her personal life was her triumphs. From writers to ball players to a president was envious. Her drive was limitless causing her impatience and lack of objectivity at just what she had achieved. But her consistent focus throughout her adult life was succeeding as an actress when women in the industry were hardly respected. The movie Niagara solidified her look and her ability to act. She made hit after hit. What's noticeably missing in this autobiography is her drug use, chronic tardiness and waning mental stability. The film sympathized with the immoral demands of a female star. She created an image-- a projection - and left no room for her humanity which ultimately made room for itself. What began as Norma Jeane slowly morphed into Marilyn Monroe with foundations so iconic it has sustained over time very much like the Mona Lisa.
