This series started off very rocky. Insufferable characters, but purposefully- it turns out. It's such an indescribable tone, so I find it's a hard sell when recommending it.
Curon is obviously trusted behind the camera, I notice he lets a lot of shots longer and he has a great eye for imagery (noted the ceiling in the hotel bedroom). Pieces of the story have all come together now so I'm very curious to see where the plot develops and where Jonathons fathers plans go to.
I also love Sacha Baron Cohen playing a straight role again, something he's leaned into more as of late. Need to type some more apparently so I'll end with this- I really do think Apple TV+ is the best streaming service available currently.

I'll be spoiler free here, but seeing the dramatic moments of a young man in this is so well-done and haunting that I just had to leave a review. I felt along for the ride. I loved it, and felt short of breath throughout the whole scene.
I won't say it's as good as Children of Men's extended car ride scene, or the one-shot city traversal segment, but the director made something different but similarly intense.
The show started fairly slow, but this episode really kicks it into high gear. Definitely worth making it through to the end of the series. Or at least to the end of this episode. A minus episode.

This isn't the episode's fault, and it all fits in character and with general reality, so don't take it as a criticism of the episode, which I thought was very good.
But good God people don't respect water. So many mistakes ended in a completely avoidable tragedy.
Catherine tells her kid she's going to sleep, don't go anywhere? Massive mistake.
Jonathan just swims out to a kid who wasn't in immediate danger without informing people? Massive mistake.
The life guards save the kid - again who is safe in the boat - and just leaves Jonathan behind who could have easily tagged along. Massive mistake.
Jonathan, a strong enough swimmer to get out their, apparently doesn't know how to tread water or float? I know people panic but still, and perhaps the water conditions were worse than demonstrated.

Robert Ravenscroft: You didn't fucking tell me for 20 years that our son almost drowned, right? He nearly died because you fell asleep after a fabulous holiday fuck.
Catherine Ravenscroft: I fell asleep...
Robert Ravenscroft: No, no! He nearly died.
Catherine Ravenscroft: I know I am wrong.
Robert Ravenscroft: Yeah, but you didn't want the affair to be found out.
Catherine Ravenscroft: It wasn't an affair.
Robert Ravenscroft: You prefer for your lover to die.
Catherine Ravenscroft: I wanted him to die!
