Cheers to the Tin Man

Now we're going somewhere! Easily my favorite episode of the first 3, it helps that this episode focuses on my favorite character of the bunch so far, GI Robot. And to say it's gonna be hard to top this episode would be an understatement. Not only is it dynamically rich in character, but it gets the main story of the show moving in a more interesting direction. The thing is, if the show decided to be a seven episode story arc with each episode focusing on one character before bringing them all together in the finale, I think I would've enjoyed that show more. Nonetheless, "Cheers for the Tin Man" is a step in the right direction for this show, and it could turn out to be something truly special if the cards are played right!

This episode had me sobbing at the very end with another heartwarming backstory told to perfection. I have to frank after the first two episodes this not what I had in mind to be honest but James Gunn continues to surprise.

The mixture between current events and moments from the past is absolutely glorious and the bittersweet moments at the end was also special I honestly can't wait for next week to watch the next episode in this amazing tale. So far it's the best episode and hope the next few episodes pick on this and give us absolute cinema. A perfect ten for me. Nothing more nothing less. 😭

I wasn't disappointed by this episode. I expected backstory for G. I. Robot and that's what I got. G. I is a member of the Easy Company and he served during WWII with Sgt. Rock.

There's not really much to say about it more than what I just did. Just as withe the previous episode, whe see present-day events and a backstory for one of the Creature Commanos members. What I like about this series is that, at least for now, it's just not that big. There's an Amazon witch hunting down a princess of Pokolistan for some reason and our heroes (if you can even call them that) try to protect her. Episode 2 was about the Bride and episode 3 about G. I. Robot and I think Episode 4 will be about the Weasel. Anyways, can't wait for the next episode.

Of course, "Creature Commandos" never skimps on action, and this episode delivers in spades. The combat sequences are the most brutal and blood-soaked yet, embracing the show's R-rated freedom with spectacular flair. Director Matt Peters crafts kinetic, visually thrilling set-pieces that blend over-the-top violence with dark humor - a signature of the series that continues to impress. While the larger series arc takes a backseat, this character-driven episode demonstrates the strength of episodic storytelling. By focusing on G. I. Robot, the show deepens its narrative tapestry, making the broader stakes more compelling when the ensemble appears. "Cheers to the Tin Man" isn't just a break from the main plot - it's a masterclass in character exploration through action-packed, emotionally charged storytelling.

"Cheers to the Tin Man" is a standout, seamlessly blending explosive action with a heartfelt narrative about loyalty, purpose, and humanity's complicated relationship with its creations. G. I. Robot may be made of metal, but his story is profoundly human - and that's what makes this episode unforgettable and the purpose of this show really comes into shape.

The Tin man! What a story! What a character! Such a bold take at a metallic amalgamation of cogs and screws and bolts. A man, a machine. Not driven by an engine, but a heart, a purpose. What a beautiful story structure. The present, the past and the end of a journey. The minds that gave birth to a life, the comrades left behind, the scientist who gave new abilities. A weapon? A soldier? Or a savior?

James Gunn has this amazing ability to give characters that very few people know or recognize even among comic book fans and give them a very engaging character development. So much so that they instantly get engraved in one's brain as character that they can relate with on a deeper level. Monsters, animals, robots, aliens doesn't even matter. Humanizing such characters is an ability that Gunn has been mastering since the dawn of his career. I can only wait in anticipation and excitement what he can bring on the table with one particular character that has a humungous legacy and is basically the torch bearer of the genre itself.
