Entertaining, but patchwork
Better than Spiderman, but not up to Jason Bourne. The father daughter interaction went well for me. Especially the daughter who likes the adrenaline and shoot-em up life that Dad keeps her involved with, but resents Dad's disappearance when she was young.
Much of what happens is a hodge-podge paste up of scenes we've seen before, but the Korean setting gives it a panache. Some cuisine. Lots of chases and fighting, and shooting - I prefer more complexity. But there is some ambiguity in the villainess, who appears to be nasty, but not a typical James Bond psychopath. More an entrepreneur $¥
Our hero's wife is really engaging. Hope she survives if there is a Season 2.
The closing scene is a non sequitur that Season 2 (if it comes) will have a big challenge to escape without ruining characterization from Season 1. The segue to Season 2 is going to be unbelievable. Like those cliffhanger serials squeezed in long ago after the Saturday feature movie, where the hero is doomed, but the final scene is completely rewritten for the continuation next Saturday to defy all logic. My guess is that the lack of a viable segue will prove very hard to swallow if there is a next Season.
