Phalguna Chaitra

In Netherlands, enjoyed watching this odia movie with friends and family. One of the best movies. Its a family blockbuster and romantic movie. It has very intense acting and all the actors and actresses have done justice to it. Movie scenes dialogues, story presentations, songs, tuning everything was fantastic. Compared to the modern hindi movies or south indian mega budget movie, this one was just awsome. Also the areas of Nabarangpur and jeypore was picturised fantastically. The organised way of story presentation was seamless which is worth watching. Both the actresses especially the grand father role was heart touching.

I always watch odia movies in TV and wanted to watch in big screen. And yesterday it was possible to watch it in Netherlands theatre with the help of joint effort by OSCAN and EuroOdia. PhalgunaChaitra is a fantastic movie and the characters are too good . I liked the Jeje character as it resembles the typical odia jeje ( how they are proud of their ancestors).

Liked the village vibes and it reminded me of my childhood and the acting is so natural.

Second part could have been better. Overall its a very good movie and its a must watch by all Odia people and also there is subtitles for non-odia people as well.

This movie is a breath of fresh air for Odia commercial movie fans who are craving to watch family dramas instead of countless remakes that have plagued the movie Industry for the last couple of decades.

I do not want to talk much about the plot as it has a suprise twist at interval. So let me break it down a bit objectively.

For someone who loves Hollywood movies : 5/10 For someone who loves Bollywood movies : 6/10 For someone who loves Odia movies : 7/10

The good -

Visuals: movie is nicely shot and show scenic locations across Odisha.

Music : pretty good.

Story concept : not stale and bit different than the typical Odia movies.

Acting : it's good overall, everybody has done a good job, the actor who portrays Jeje (Grandpa) stands out.

The not so good -

Story : Even though the story is not very stale, it feels a bit stretched and could have been done in 1.5 hours.

Editing : Without going into too much details, entire scenes are repeated which could have been edited a bit tightly to have more impact on viewer.

Direction : Movie feels a bit choppy and scenes change abruptly at times.

To conclude - it's a very good attempt and I hope lots of Odia commercial movie fans watch it, which could bring back the golden days when we had actors like Bijoy Mohanty with beautiful stories and heartfelt dialogues.

Bonus: If you have appetite for non-commercial/indie odia movies, highly recommend watching kalira atita, it's a good movie about climate change, and the lead actor Pitobash Tripathy has done a fantastic job.

It's new beginning of Odia movie. Very Original story that succeeds on almost every level. Great direction with wonderful screenplay , great acting.

The supporting cast are not mere support roles rather they share the frame, and dialogues and hold the story stronger. Jeje/ Das Babu portrayed by Choudhary Jayprakash Das with a handlebar mustache and Kanha (Pranab) owned each and every frame. I salute to the producer who have courage to make this type of movie in our odia industry.

The theatre was fully occupied to its capacity and ended with a astounding Applause as the movie ends. Saw audience from all age category from people in their 60s to to children in their teens.

I think this movie can change the mindset of all odia film lover. Because the content is king and this content is not fiction it's real and screen presentation is also very natural.

Go watch it, and you will enjoy till the very end.

Worth every penny...

It was very emotional moment for a odias staying in Netherlands as for very 1st time any odia movie screened . Coming to movie cinematography was very good..all acted very well.songs were very good both audio and visual. Each small odia Kicks were shown like Bana bhoji, pana , food ..those made us remember our home ...and feel hungry for our Odia food ..kudos to whole team for giving a nice movie 🎬 and thanks Oscan group and aeuro odia chalacitra to screen it in Netherlands. Our kids enjoyed a lot as well which gave us a datisfaction as they witness our cukture .Planning to watch more in coming days.
