Paying for It

Where to begin. This movie is an abomination from start to finish.

I hate characters that are so weak and pathetic that they cannot stand up for themselves. It seems like this movie was written by a poly person that thinks it is cute for multiple people to be in a relationship together. There is nothing natural or healthy about open relationships. I'm not really sure where this movie was coming from or where it was going. Just a hodge podge of nerdrodic scenes and a bastardsization or the 90s. 10 out of 10 would never recommend. I feel terrible for the actors and everyone involved in this huge waste of time.

Shy cartoonist Chester and his beautiful, minor celeb girlfriend Sonny are living together, having sexual difficulties, and decide to have an open relationship. She brings home a series of terrible boyfriends (one of them even being repeatedly violent), while he visits prostitutes.

All the way through this film I just wanted to shout at the two protagonists "What the f@$? Are you thinking!?" Maybe because I'm older and apparently much happier than the characters, it was difficult to watch people being so dumb and self-destructive, when there was an obvious way out for both of them - being in a normal, loving relationship with each other.

It's supposed to be based on a true story, so I feel sorry for the writers.

The film's ending seems unlikely (but I guess true as well), and as long as they're all happy now who am I to judge.

Definitely a slice of life and quite eye-opening, and isn't that why we watch the movies.
