Beautiful

I didn't know what to expect so I didn't go in with expectations. Maybe that's the difference between my experience and those who left a poor review. Everything within my experience was wonderful. The music the visuals and the message were uplifting yet there was a sense of calm contentment throughout the entire show and afterwards as well. From my perspective there was absolute cohesion in the message, the visuals and the music. I could see life's beginning middle and end of being presented in a very Vivid yet abstract way. I'd absolutely go again. I can't imagine the number of hours that went into creating something like this. I imagine there was a great deal of emotion poured into this piece. Considering the time and emotion that went into beautifica I think the price is fair and appropriate. N.

The good: music was decent.

The bad: the music had no cohesion from one track to the next and no sense of overarching theme. The visuals looked dated and lacked a sense of purpose most of the time. (Not to mention incongruous to the "message" of "the beauty of life.") And on that note, what's with the narration? He just randomly throws out words of generic inspiration like "love." "joy." "kindness." "gratitude." If that was supposed to be meditative or uplifting, then yikes.

Overall, I was left underwhelmed, uninspired, and dare I say bored. There was no sense of harmony throughout the show and I would be hard pressed to see how the images even remotely complemented the "beautifica" theme that Hood was trying to convey. Hard pass.

Absolute garbage

Beautifica is a cringey set of poor CGI visuals overlayed with cheesy new age music and daft commentary.

I honestly cannot even fathom who greenlit this nonsensical disaster to be promoted on IMAX. There was no rhyme or reason to the transitions and the art felt random and disconnected.

People comparing this to screensaver art are not even exaggerating. Fractals and kaleidescope visuals for a full hour do not make a compelling experience.

"Be kind, dance, feel alive" a toddler could've written a more insightful script.

Save your time and money and see something else. Also be kind... Because... Maybe you weren't aware that you should be.

Beautifica San Diego

Beautifica San Diego Cold chills from the start. Immersive sensory experience. Beautiful and mesmerizing. Alternates relaxing then stimulating. My only complaint is the sound could be better. Need Dolby surround or something. I went to Astra Lumina and the sound there, outside, was so awesome it was as if sound was coming from the lights, and moving with them as well. BUT. Go see this. It is still amazing. Maybe different theaters have better sound than we had. I upgraded to VIP but it is probably not necessary, just get there 45m before the show. The concessions weren't too overpriced in my opinion. Big popcorn $6.99 and the value packs were helpful with cost as well. Cola was $3.99 per bottle. I got popcorn and 2 drinks for $12.99 with the combo.

Worth seeing - a visual feast

We saw this in IMax and really enjoyed it. It's a trip into a series of amazing high resolution visual effects with a trippy soundtrack. Seeing it in an imax dome was an incredible immersive experience. After it finished the audience applauded. I wanted to see more. When I stood up I needed a minute to steady myself! The sound track is ethereal and heavenly.

This is a collection of computer generated graphics by at least six different visual effects artists that flow into one another. Each has a distinct feel and style. Some felt like outer space with thousands of stars in the background. Pretty cool experience.

Be careful if you get motion sick.
