Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays

Just watched the first installment and I now feel I can tackle a roast. If Selena can do it I'm willing to give it a go! Those potatoes looked amazing. Selena is her own sweet self and so fun to watch. However, I kept watching to see if she was going to ruin that white dress, what with the juices flowing and the tomato sauce bubbling! Somehow, it remained spotless, OR she had wardrobe make 10 copies of the dress! ;-) My other issue is with her friend, Raquel. I found it disgusting she didn't wash her hands. You can clearly see her picking at her scalp, then taking the cheese. Then she used those fingers to pick at EVERYTHING. Really gross when she kept munching on everything. Also, she needs to Calm Down. (See what I did there?) I think Chef Alex thought so, too. The banter between Selena and Alex was so fun. That made the show.

I gave it a 10 because Selena is just amazing! I love how hard she tries and she does a great job! I love her outfits as well!

I love learning right along with her! I also enjoy seeing her family and her dogs. Plus the fact that she donated money to the charity of the chefs choice is wonderful!!

If I had anything negative to say it would be about Racquelle. The girl is downright obnoxious. I just watched the latest episode with Chef Claudette and watching Raquelle destroying the ham by picking at it and eating it made me cringe. I almost had to shut the show off, I kept it on for Selena's sake. Please get rid of her and the show will be perfect!!

I am very new to the food network shows. I caught this show by accident and I must say I am really enjoying it. I appreciate how earnestly Selena is learning the methods of cooking. The guests are great! The food seems less intimidating when you're making it for a small group and the step by step directions are perfect. I would have given it a 10 if it were not for her friend Raquel. I don't really understand why she is there, except for maybe getting a pan or grater? It seems like she's just trying to get her 15 minutes? Sorry.. otherwise this show is very sweet! Also when her family comes in they are a nice add. I will try and see her other cooking series.
