This episode was a large jewel in a jewel encrusted crown. Just a really good idea well executed. I loved how they delivered the complexity of this episode, with the trio sitting in on the events of the murder as fly on the wall watchers. There was real craft to it and it was perfectly pulled off.
They weren't just making another hour of tv content, they were pushing the boundaries of film craft, delivering much more than their homework assignment asked for.
As noted the 3 main actors delivered depth although Mabel/Selena was still the weak link, but the others picked up her slack. Still too much unnecessary swearing, I guess they'll die thinking that's a clever script device, and Paul Rudd gave a great nuanced performance to flesh out his previously only sketched central character.
It's great when you enjoy a show but it's something more when you noticed the well crafted expertise it is delivered with.

Only Murders in the Building remembers that it is about investigating a murder and a podcast associated with that.
It is the penultimate episode so it really does need to gets its skates on.
Oliver wakes up in hospital and has a stent inserted. He is out of hospital and it is a race against time to save Loretta from pursuing further with her false confession. All to save her son Dickie.
Only Dickie is still the prime suspect of killing his adopted brother Ben. Only he has an alibi caught on CCTV cameras. Ben spent time with ladies in a red light area. They turned out to be seamstresses in a clothes repair shop. Ben liked to sew as a form of relaxation.
It was not just that Oliver, Mabel and Charles started to do the investigating. There were some genuinely quirky humour. A bit of a character development for Ben who was not the egoistic monster he was painted out to be.

God, what an incredible episode. I know people have been generally mixed on this season, but I've really enjoyed it so far and these past three entries have been some of the strongest in the entire run. The framing device especially was incredibly interesting and a wonderful visual treat. The chemistry between Steve, Short and Selena has never been better and is made all the more rewarding considering everything they've been through this season.
I've been itching to see more of Paul Rudd this season and this episode delivered, he's so great in this role and does so much to flesh out his character in just 30 minutes. It remains to be seen how this episode will age but at this very moment, this is easily my favorite episode of the series thus far.

This episode highlights the amazing chemistry between our three main cast in an effortless fashion that gives its audience each of these characters wittiness and smarts to catch the killer. I enjoyed seeing more Paul Rudd as well, as he steals the show whenever he is on screen. But what I find most enjoyable about the episode is how it flows. Each scene is needed, and might I add very funny, and it doesn't seem like they're wasting any time in the final few episodes of the season. It'll be a very interesting season finale and cant wait to see how it all ends and if there is going to be another season as this show just keeps getting better and better!

- TriviaBen and Loretta met for a "fight call" before the performance. Fight Call is a rehearsal held before every performance containing a stage fight. Each fight is usually run once at half speed, then once at full speed, it gives the chance to refresh choreography before the actual performance.
- ErroresWhen they decide that they have to go to the courthouse to stop Loretta from pleading guilty, they say it is in twenty minutes. Somehow Charles and Oliver are to change into tuxedos and Mabel is almost to don the wedding dress, and then get a cab to the courthouse within the twenty minute time frame.
