What a wonderfully engaging film. It's a package of emotional loss and resettling, genuinely amusing side lines, light romance and drama with a one percent Science Fiction content used to tie it all together.
If you're expecting to watch a Sci-Fi indy film with all that may encompass, I suspect you're going to be one of the ones on here using the incredibly tired cliche about having wasted an hour and three quarters of their life.
The Sci-Fi element is more of a small Segway to bind all the other components. It's a weird spike - that's it, it doesn't need explaining, the film doesn't require it.
The acting, story, setting and outcome make up for what I was originally expecting in every way and left me with an emotional feel good lift that was far from expected and very much appreciated and enjoyed.
Highly recommended as a light but emotional feel good drama - with a teensy tiny bit of Sci-Fi thrown in.

We're All Gonna Die is one of those rare films that doesn't just pass the time - it grabs you and doesn't let go. I went in expecting something good, but what I got was a masterclass in emotional storytelling: funny, sad, serious, and somehow still uplifting.
It's raw, real, and incredibly well-balanced - the kind of film that makes most recent releases feel like filler by comparison. Every scene landed, the pacing was perfect, and the team behind this absolutely smashed it.
Genuinely one of the best things I've watched in ages, and more people need to see this.
Bravo, and huge props to Freddie, Matt and the whole team!

This 2024 movie was one that I had never heard about, and thus obviously never seen, duh! And as I stumbled upon it here in 2025, by random chance, of course I had to sit down and watch what directors Matthew Arnold and Freddie Wong had to offer.
Writers Matthew Arnold, Freddie Wong, Will Campos and Beth May put together a script and storyline that sort of fell short of entertaining me. Sure, it was a watchable movie, but there just simply wasn't much of anything interesting, much less actually funny, happening throughout the course of the narrative. Which made sitting through 107 minutes of this somewhat of a test. I was expecting the alien tentacle mentioned in the synopsis to be a bigger part of the narrative, so when that didn't happen it was sort of a disappointment.
While I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, that was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie. I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen when I watch a movie. The acting performances in the movie were fair.
I will say that the movie was definitely nicely shot and there were some very nice scenery in the movie.
Ultimately a bit of a disappointing and slow paced movie.
My rating of directors Matthew Arnold and Freddie Wong's 2024 movie "We're All Gonna Die" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

I rarely watch anything outside of mystery/horror and true SciFi. I only watched this because I was intrigued by the idea of a teleporting alien spike. So for me to come write a review of this movie means this movie had a impact. It honestly really is just a drama, with a little comedy, a little romance, and even less SciFi. But the ending point of it was sooo good. The leads are okay, not fantastic, and there was an awkwardness that I don't feel was intentional, it kinda felt like young acting jitters. Nothing spectacular about the scenery other than the spike. The music was appropriate but nothing great. There was not ONE particular thing that stood out, but when it all came together at the end, I felt content and glad that I watched this movie.
An ambitious blend of slice-of-life, road trip, and science fiction, infused with some genuine intents at its core, which I wholeheartedly admire.
While it might not be the most sophisticated or high-concept feature, the messaging resonates well. The chemistry between the lead characters, Thalia and Kai, portrayed by Ashly Burch and Jordan Rodrigues, is commendable as they effectively strikes the right emotional chords.
If only the comedic moments had landed more effectively and the balance between the contrasting tones been nicer, I would have been more generous with my rating.
Nevertheless, I liked it for what it wanted to convey and would definitely recommend it to anyone in search of a 'comfort' feature, this might soothe your mind.
