I'm hanging in there but this show is just as padded and slow as the first season, which almost did me in.
They don't seem to understand that their characters are nowhere near compelling enough that every little detail about their lives will be fascinating. I just want them to shut up, stop blathering about something irrelevant to the story, and get the plot moving.
It's a bad sign when I'm happy when a main character dies. Nothing against that character, but since almost all of them are dull, that removes a dull character. Problem is, the other dull ones just get the highlight.
The tidbits of mystery are what keep me going. What's on the hard drive, what do the "connections" leading away from the silo mean (gee I can guess), why was Solo stuck in the vault by himself, etc.
What they need to stop: the social commentary and class warfare with the Mechanicals vs the upper echelons. It's too pat and obvious, and the Mechanical characters are so dull I was actively rooting for them all to go over the railing.
I sure hope this season picks up the pace soon. I'll keep watching for now because I'm waiting for the whole season of Severance to be up before jumping into that.

(1) dramatic improvements to cinematography and direction relative to the previous two episodes -- framing, focal lengths, and camera positioning allow subjects to fill the frame; lighting and contrast ratios have gone from daytime soap flatness to back to a more cinematic look that was presented in the opening two episodes.
(2) the way season two's arc was broken in the writers room seems to have prioritized minimal side arcs (C, D, E stories) over the progression of the main event -- Juliette's survival and exploration -- which has been at a stalemate for four consecutive episodes now.
(3) deja vu from season one: this story and its enclosed world feel more suited for a feature-length structure rather than being stretched into multiple seasons of television with the plot on 0.3x speed -- we're at the season's midpoint, and nothing substantial has happened. There's just not enough story or character here to keep the drama flowing.

In Silo 17, Juliette tries to create a suit to return to her silo, but struggles to find a helmet. Solo, a man who has experienced rebellion and isolation, lashes out at Juliette and hides his horror from her. However, he is lying about his identity and tells the story of how he became known as Solo. Juliette finds the real Solo and Tiny, but she is the only hope for her silo. The drama revolves around Solo's true identity and how he became the sole survivor of Silo 17. There are hints that something else is out there. Bernard is dealing with the murder of Judge Meadows and aims to quash the rebellion in Mechanical. However, this will turn into a bigger issue. Bernard also needs to deal with Sims, who is no longer Bernard's Shadow. This blows Sims, who has only been loyal up to this point. Bernard has made a mistake, and the minute Sims figures anything out, Bernard will be toppled over. In summary, Silo 17 explores the themes of rebellion, isolation, and the dangers of a mysterious man named Solo. Juliette's journey to find Solo and Tiny is a thrilling exploration of the mysteries surrounding Silo 17 and the potential consequences of a misunderstanding. Sims and his wife, who works in IT, are working against Bernard by hiding Knox and Shirley, pretending they are being arrested for their crimes. This allows them to get back to Mechanical. However, they are not communicating properly, which is a sign of the silo regime's impact on people. As disillusioned with Bernard, the two begin to trust each other more and work against him. After being accused of the murder of Judge Meadows, Knox and Shirley had to escape, and Walker was able to pass through more freely. The benefit of living in her cave allows her to wait for her opening to return home. Knox and Shirley needed help from a few people, but when the porters proved untrustworthy, they threatened them to get what they needed. They set up a rig that allowed them to jump down the middle of the silo, and their own people were waiting below to help them back over the stairs. The new head of Judicial Security is not playing around in an attempt to kill them, and Bernard has a loyal Security head. Knox was worried about being pulled over the ledge, but Shirley expected him to make it. Sheriff Billings and Hank have realized something is wrong with the messages they are receiving, and they are starting to question too much. Bernard has little control over them now, and this is setting up for a major rebellion, which Bernard has no idea about.
Well here we go again..... another potentially great series is heading for cancellation because nobody in the entertainment business understands the very simple fact people don't want to pay to watch paint dry.
If this series could go any slower we'd be faced with having to live forever to get to the end of it!
The script writers, producer and director all need to be fired immediately for killing a series that had the best potential of anything at the moment. Nobody wants to see the daily lives of silo tenants, nobody actually cares about the politics, or power struggles, or history of whatever because it's supposed to be science fiction!
Dumb does not begin to do justice to describing the idiots want to draw this out at the slowest possible pace, just to try and make it last forever.
Get on with telling the main story or it will be cancelled!

The drop off from season one to the second season has been precipitous and with each episode it seems to be accelerating. I have read the books multiple times so I get the basic premise and even still I find myself baffled as to what the heck is going on.
There are way too many minor characters that get no real fleshing out, they pop in and out of the story with no explanation. Meanwhile the main storylines are bogged down. Jules is going to die of old age in the new silo before anything of note actually happens.
It isn't too late to pull out of the death spiral but it is getting closer. I don't understand why producers given a complete storyline decide to tinker with it to the point that it becomes unrecognizable.

¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaTodas las entradas contienen spoilers
- ErroresThere are a lot of references to having mines under the Silo. However there is no explanation for where the spoil that would be produced from the mines is disposed, especially considering the fact that each Silo is completely sealed from the outside world.
