Unlike the first and second seasons, The third season is very disappointing in most of its moments.
We have been waiting for the third season for a long time to be surprised and enjoy; But it's like we were expecting something wrong.
Season 2 was however a let down as a continuation of the story, and honestly just dragged the entire way through. It killed the pacing with it turning into a mellow drama that didn't progress the story much, with repetitive and honestly jarringly bad dialogue in places. With the mystery just becoming non engaging as more and more and more questions just kept getting raised, with only a little bit of payoff that I did find captivating.
Season 3 is yet again falling down that same path, there needs to be more payoff to the mysteries and this episode - despite having good pacing - was just sort of a nothing burger, with the biggest thing probably being Christies injury and Tabitha returning.
Stop review bombing the season, we get that you're fans of the show, I am among one of them, but voting '10' every single release is misleading and annoying. This episode at the time of writing is sitting at an '8.1' this episode is easily a 7.5 if not a little lower. Doesn't mean I don't like the series, it means I thought this episode was weaker and didn't do much for the story. I want this season to be good, but I don't want to have to slog through another season of just small character interactions. There needs to be more interesting events that unfold throughout the season, instead of dragging the story out for an important moment in say episode 5 or 10. This is coming from another writers perspective.
Before you review bomb me, know that I do genuinely love the show and want it to succeed. That's why I'm annoyed that it keeps repeating these same mistakes. The premiere was a step in the right direction, by raising new stakes and having some good twists with the characters. But this episode is taking the season 2 mid season road where its not doing all that much.
Just accept that there are highs and lows to a television series, and if you did enjoy the episode, all the power to you. But stop review bombing the episode.
When I rate an episode or movie I am NOT comparing it to any other show or movie. I am rating it based on how it fits MY criteria. If I rate this episode a 10 it does not mean it's on the same level as LOST or Gone With The Wind.... It just means it satisfied my criteria. Not all 10's are the same and they shouldn't be.
Based on my criteria this was a 10. Was it the best episode of the series? Absolutely not, not even close.
It's telling a story and advancing the series. The "set-up" as I call it. It's doing a great job of that.
One thing that I find curious is, compared to LOST, it's really hard to find a character to like. I dislike most of them. I mean really dislike. Tabitha, Fatima, Kristi, Donna (and her real life husband). The kids are totally unlikeable.
In LOST I hated Michael....in FROM he's my favorite. Boyd, Jim, and Jade are my favorites but fading. Even Randall is cool to me.
I look forward to Boyd capturing one of the monsters....that will be dramatic and bring its own set of new issues.
The Tabitha story is boring to me. Fatima's story is boring to me but has great potential. The monsters.....hell yes!!!
Anyways, I love the serious. I feel it will get very intense very shortly. If not, it will be nothing but a soap opera with a low rating.
This was a really great episode for me. The cliffhanger at the end.....omg it's a tragedy I have to wait 7 more agonizing days. The one thing I will agree with the negative reviewers on is how awful and annoying Ethan is. I don't know if it's bad acting or writing, but they made him super annoying in this episode. Jim too. Fatima isn't one of my favorite characters, but there was some good character development and acting in this episode. I don't know if it's because I had to wait a year and a half, but I love season 3 so far. Give it a chance.
¿Sabías que…?
- Citas
Boyd Stevens: How'd it go with, uh, Kenny and the others?
Donna: Fine. We all drew straws, Dale threw a shit fit, and they all went on their way. Should be down there by lunchtime.
