You have to watch this anime given expectations of what this is. It's an anime about Suicide Squad in an isekai. This anime is very clearly not taking itself very seriously and not looking to be anything groundbreaking. The more you just play along with the insanity the more fun and enjoy it you'll have.
The plot is fairly simply and standard for an isekai. Nothing revolutionary. As for its faithfulness to the DC source material, I would say it's like fairly loose with the characters. The background and overall feel of the characters stay pretty much in tact, but the writers definitely took liberties with their character personality at times. I would say try not to be a diehard DC fan while watching this. If you are going to get agitated with your favorite characters being different from the Comics, you should probably stay away form this show.
As for the animation for the first season, I will say that the animation is fairly rough for the first 5 episodes, especially that 5th episode (yikes). However, it would seem the animation budget went into the last 5 episodes, as Wit Studios really kicked it up a notch with the animations, so don't get to discouraged about the animations after watching the first 5 like most of the reviewers.
Overall, it was a fun 10 episodes to watch. It doesn't take itself very seriously and neither should you when watching it. If you have nothing to watch and want something to pass the time, I would say give this a crack especially given it's currently only 10 episodes.

I truly was hoping I would be able to side with the high reviews for this show, but it's just so awful on every level. The animation is bad, the voice acting is bad, the story is bad...it's all bad. I speak Japanese so after the first episode I switched from the English version to the Japanese. While this did improve things it just wasn't worth it for me to hang in on this one. The intros and outros are blatant rip offs of Cowboy Bebop. The only positive I can give it is the artwork/style of it is sleek and nice to look at but a bad show is a bad show.
I gave up 3-4 episodes in. If you know nothing about Suicide Squad or decent Japanese anime you might enjoy this.

OH Yeah, I totally get it if some ppl don't like this. There has been quite a bit of Suicide Squad content the last few years. From the 2016 movie to the sequel a few years back. Birds of Prey might as well be a Suicide Squad movie but with the ladies. And then there's to majority criticized Kill The Justice League game, which ultimately left a sour taste in the majority of the fandom's mouths.
All this said, I would not be surprised if a majority of people disliked this. The series is nothing amazing. It's not trying to be the next Demon Slayer or One Piece. It's just an entertaining Suicide Squad series set in an anime setting, using the typical Isekai concept that anime fans know all too well.
But here's the truth, from a person who feels the same and most people about all the above.
Its good. Not great. But good.
The first episode is nothing to rave about. But the next three episodes especially the 4th one is the reason why I'm continuing the series. The voice actors are doing an awesome job, some of them seasoned VAs from popular anime that we all love. The story isn't perfect but having watched the last two episodes I can see a good story forming and the world is starting to come together.
I highly recommend fellow anime fans give this series a chance. It's worth it. Harley, Kingshark, Peacekeeper, and even Deadshot all get some funny moments and ultimately the anime is really just about the Suicide Squad getting into trouble and causing a little bit of chaos and violence.
I say, try it with an open mind. It's not bad at all.

One of the things I'm sure that people might be thinking is if this is just a cash grab series like the video game Kill The Justice League, which ended up being hated by many fans. I think it's safe to say it kinda is but in a good way. The truth is the Suicide Squad sells and I'm not surprised Wit Studio and Warner Bros decided to try to capitalize on this. It's definitely a lot better than the game. Harley is very much a mix of the classic version and the new version. Clayface, Peacemaker, and Deadshot are all entertaining to watch. And Kingshark is basically always eating people which is pretty funny.
The voice acting is good and the music is energetic and fun. The story itself isn't super complex but theres some interesting world building and the characters are definitely entertaining to watch. The animation is good, something that Wit Studio has always done pretty well with. It's not going to be the best anime of the year, but it's not going for that. The writers are making this for easy viewing and entertainment. It's pretty good overall and I recommend to anyone wanting to just watch something fun and laid-back. Not everything has to be serious, sometimes a little Isekai with Harley Quinn is all you need.
Give it a go, it's worth it.

Highly recommend for any Suicide Squad / Peacemaker / Harley Quinn fans
I'm shocked DC opted for such good animation considering their style(s) prior! This storyline looks promising and really opens up the door to getting to know the characters personalities. It wouldn't be worth a damn without some really decent fight scenes and dashes of humor peppered throughout.
(Written First 3 episodes in)
The characters are all enhanced and their powers are stronger, even non metas, due to being in another world so I can't wait to see where they take this. If the anime style isn't your get down I would still recommend trying out the first 2 episodes and decide from there bc I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it is.

¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaThe squad includes Clayface. This is odd in that a bomb wouldn't kill him. He can just pull himself back together. Unless he has a corrosive payload instead of a bomb.
