I really think if each episode was brought down to 45 minutes the writers would be forced to make tighter scripts that flow better, that would make them focus on the aspects that actually matter.
This season is the textbook example of all sizzle and no steak.
I found this episode to be quite character driven and dramatic. While that's certainly a bit of a change of pace, it wasn't really that bad. I get the feeling that they're setting up for a very high emotion finale and while this episode was mostly procedural in setting up for the season finale, it was pretty effective as such.
8/10 eagerly awaiting next weeks finale but still bitter that seasons are only 8 eps long.
This season, the stakes are higher than ever. The Boys, led by Billy Butcher, are more determined to bring down Vought International and the corrupt Supes. The introduction of new characters adds fresh dynamics to the ensemble cast, with each new face bringing their own brand of chaos and intrigue. The performances are consistently strong, with standout moments from Karl Urban and Antony Starr, whose portrayals of Butcher and Homelander continue to anchor the series with their intensity and nuance.
The writing in Season 4 is sharp, weaving in relevant social commentary without feeling heavy-handed. Themes of power, corruption, and the blurred lines between heroism and villainy are explored in compelling ways. The show also doesn't shy away from graphic violence and dark humor, which remain integral to its identity.
Visually, the series is impressive, with high production values evident in the detailed set pieces and special effects. The action sequences are particularly noteworthy, offering inventive and often shocking moments that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
However, the season isn't without its flaws. Some plot points feel a bit rushed, and there are moments where the sheer amount of content threatens to overwhelm the narrative. Despite these minor issues, Season 4 of "The Boys" is a thrilling ride that continues to defy expectations and challenge the conventions of the superhero genre.
Overall, this season is a must-watch for fans of the series and anyone looking for a darker, more cynical take on the world of superheroes. It balances character development, social critique, and spectacular action in a way that few shows can, cementing its place as one of the most provocative series on television.
This episode had depth and twists, action and gore. It had everything you'd want from The Boys, and i am actually excited for the next installment. "Low budget fight scenes" another reviewer was talking about, i sort of agree they could have been better but from what we've seen this Season this was actually not that bad. A well needed episode.
New players in town, the skin changer sup had a lot of Supernatural vibes.

- TriviaSince the fish tank was CGI, Chace Crawford had to rehearse the tank scene about 25 times before they were confident enough to get the shot. The shot used was the first take.
- ErroresAmbrosius has been shown multiple times out of water (on the Deep's bed, on his shoulder, during intercourse, etc.), yet when the Deep breaks her cage, suddenly she can't breathe.

A-Train: [to Mother's Milk] You know, when I carried your ass to the ER, there was a kid there. His eyes were like... "Holy shit." Looking at me... like I was a hero. There were no screaming fans, no cameras. Nobody even knew. Except for this one kid. That felt better than anything that I'd ever done at Vought. Because for once... I didn't hate myself.
