Didn't particularly like it the first time round because it seemed much faster paced compared to previous episodes in the series (this is the newest episode as of the time of writing this review), but after rewatching it I can't help but think about specific scenes and jokes that make me laugh days after rewatching it. The fast pace certainly works more after being aware of just how much chaos and scale they cram into a single episode, and I think this episode will certainly be much more appreciated by the time the season finishes airing or when people start rewatching it. Letters words letters character review limit letters.
Longtime Smiling Friends fan, first time IMDB reviewer. Unfortunately this episode was bad enough that I wanted to make an account to share my thoughts. You should still go watch it to form your own opinion, but I suspect that time will show this as the worst episode in this show (assuming we get back to the expected quality in the remainder of S2).
It feels as if this episode was written by someone other than Zach and Michael trying to write a Smiling Friends episode or ChatGPT being told to write an episode. It feels more like a D-tier Family Guy episode than Smiling Friends. It has a few good bits (commending the dictator, Glib getting his social security put on TV, a couple others), but overall misses the mark by a wide margin. The jokes feel forced and, for lack of a better term, too easy. Mr. Frog's campaign video ending with, "I endorsement this message. No I don't, eff you" is not a good Smiling Friends joke. It's like a kid's attempt at using swear words as a joke. Mr. Frog simply endorsing what was already a crazy campaign ad would have been funnier than him cursing at us.
This show is typically funny because the relatively normal things happening in an obscure world. Charlie's arc follows this because he bails when things get too weird, but overall this episode comes off as zany for the sake of being zany. The character of the President is too gross to overcome. Characters aren't as developed as they usually are. Mr. Frog has less depth than he did in S1. There isn't even really a reason it's Mr. Frog over any other random character they could have come up with. It's just a callback with no purpose other than you might like seeing a previously used character.
I'm clearly not a television critic. I'm certain I've struggled to express why I think this episode is bad. Perhaps a poorly written review is a good response to a poorly written episode. Overall, this is a low point in the show. Hopefully the joke style (quick and pointless) and character style (gross to be gross) care one-offs for this season. The best I can try to summarize is by reflecting on the Brazil episode. There are no cutaways, no gags, hardly even any real jokes, and yet because of the well written, real feeling conversation we can place ourselves into the situation and relate to it enough to laugh. That is what Smiling Friends typically brings to the table (even with crazy things like renaissance men and forest demons). This episode does not succeed at this. I'm hoping for more from the remainder of the season.

Most adult cartoons that take a shot at politics usually either make fun of or lean towards one of the political parties in the U. S. Smiling friends does a great job keeping the politics out of a political episode. The episode didn't have me dying laughing the entire time but it did its job. There were a few funny moments and the episode overall was rock solid for smiling friends standard. I expect a lot of big things from the show this season and hope to see more of Mr. Frog and Mr. Boss. Overall, this wasn't one of my favorites, but it was worth the wait. Can't wait to tune in next week for another episode!
He put barbecue sauce on the lamb. He has framed pictures of lamb. He offered lamb to Pim and Charlie. He is a man of good culture and good taste. The president may have some flaws, but deep down he may want what's best. The world is in a mess, but maybe if we all come together we can reach some common ground to advance in society because we - we - we live in a society. And society may have some issues, but pl-
Okay for real don't read any of what I just typed above that's all nonsense to meet the minimum word count. This is such a good episode with chaos cranked to 99999 please go stream it.

Heard a lot of complaints about the pacing but personally i felt it was pretty in line with the rest of the show. It's definitely not the best episode, but I was a big fan of the way they handled a sensitive subject. It felt like a significantly better version of the South Park Turd Sandwich vs. Giant Douche episode, and one of the better satires of current American politics I have seen recently. I think part of why it's getting so much hate is the political content and it being sandwiched between two of the best episodes the show has probably ever put out. Overall a really solid episode that will probably get less funny after the election.
