Shaun's Vacation

I'm a fan of Ryan and Rob, and have enjoyed Welcome to Wrexham up until now, especially the mix of football clips and real life interaction with fans and players behind the scenes. But the show doesn't really need contrived gags to try to make it more lively.

As for Shaun Harvey, my one wish would have been for Ryan and Rob to talk to some longstanding Leeds United supporters when they were vetting Harvey, so they would have been aware of how he was regarded during his tenure at Leeds. Obviously, it is crucial for foreign owners to have local expertise when buying and running a sports enterprise, but certainly Harvey isn't the only football exec in England that would have fit the bill. The love-in with him is cringeworthy. This is an episode that many (if not most) Leeds United fans will likely skip.

The previous episode literally made me cry, so the whiplash of this vanity tripe was pretty jarring. There was only one insufferable Rob + Ryan episode in season 1 as well (the Wales one), hopefully this means they've got it out of their system for this season already. 'Ohhh, aren't we so cheeky and charming??' I don't dislike these guys by any means but episodes like this one are NOT what keeps me coming back to the show. Just because you're self-aware that you're being annoying doesn't mean you're not being annoying!

(I should clarify that it's not even just the Rob + Ryan focus that I disliked, even just generally this episode is uncharacteristically all over the place. Very strange)

Wow this is the first episode that made me mad lol Rob and Ryan have shown this episode that they are completely unaware of how their actions affect other people. As someone who was a middle manager for many years, I really felt for Humphrey and Shaun. I don't know how much of this story is tailored to make a dramatic episode, but if it's true than I've lost a little respect for Rob and Ryan. How can you be so obtuse to think doing this blimp prank without warning anyone was a good idea? Or how can you forget when you have millions of social media followers that your actions matter? It's just a bit ridiculous.
