Anwar Says: This is the sequel of the Pankaj Tripathi starrer Kagaz and the last swan song of legend Late Satish Kaushik. Kagaz had conveyed the social message with a lot of humour, here in Kagaz 2 there is a different social message with touch of emotions and under the umbrella of Higher Judiciary. One thing, I am finding in every such social issue raising products that to convey the message, social media and hashtags are invariably used.
Though Late Kaushik took his best friend Anupam Kher to convey the poignant theme but the plot looked shattered from the first half an hour. Initially, it focuses on a son with disturbed childhood, suddenly it shifts to the ironies of a common man and then jumps into courtroom drama, questioning fundamental rights of the Constitution. Probably, the director V K Prakash, known mainly for south films, is yet to understand Hindi audiences.
However, the Jodi of Kher and Kaushik are superb and I can say that the brand Satish Kaushik would be copied in the years to come. Darshan Kumar got extra screen presence. Neena Gupta doesn't have significant role. Watch it as a tribute to the great Satish Kaushik.

I saw this movie because it was the last one of late Satish Kaushik who was an extremely talented actor known for his comic acting in Hindi films. He had done serious roles too with distinction. He was unique in transforming himself seamlessly to the character he portrayed and this is also true in this movie where he plays a grieving father determined to get justice for his daughter. A truly super performance as his swan song. The main plot has a few entwined subplots. Young Uday ( Darshan Kumaar) is undergoing training at the Indian Military Academy and he feels he is not cut out for Military life. He leaves the training, goes home to his single mother Radhika ( Neena Gupta). After a tiff with mom on an impulse he decides to visit his estranged lawyer father ( Anupam Kher) who is ill and who is fighting a case to deliver justice to the late daughter of Satish Kaushik. She had died due to delay in reaching the hospital caused by a traffic jam because of a political rally.
Director VK Prakash makes use of three veteran talented actors available to make an emotional narrative which is appealing no doubt even though long winded. The message of fundamental right for freedom to travel unhindered ( Specially in emergencies) on roads is put across effectively and will resonate with the common man. All four actors have put in admirable performances. Old timer Kiran Kumar impresses as the judge. As Darshan's love interest Smriti Kalra has done well in a brief role. There are a few well shot scenes of training at the Indian Military Academy which impress.

No matter how much change is brought to the existing laws or new ones being made...the real change is when common mass decides to raise voice and that too strongly with a resolut mindset, the results are there to be seen...or atleast there is a larger hope to prevent any untoward injustice to the helpless.
Certainly the beurocrat and the polity needs to be a tad bit more involved with it 😀.
That would place some required sensibility to the people who are responsible for the public life.
Very nice movie and what action by everyone involved...almost felt like I was a part of the screenplay...kudos to everyone!

This movie revolves around the accident of a young lady who is denied access to emergency care because of traffic disruptions by political forces. This is about the fight of two fathers, one father of the lady and another father, the lawyer, against the system. It also showcases the dynamics between the father and the son, where the son tries to discover his father in a new light. This is a great story, and I believe more such stories should be encouraged. However, the delivery and the storyline are not that great. The format of storytelling, where the main pivot of the story is introduced in a flashback, is not the optimistic one of this kind of story. I think that story should have been introduced earlier.
10 for the social message, don't expect normal entertainment movie, first half is pretty good i would say, it can get boring in second half as message and fight is boring ,but again 1 time watch for the message these type of films give.
Main cast all are good, acting is believable and the IMA scenes are pretty good, the long conversations between father and son are mesmerising, acting wise I will say everyone was best, i don't know how they can make such movies entertaining, some social movies have done it like court room drama of Arshad warshi , otherwise these films will have little impact though message is great.
