    A mixed bag.

    Silly. Fun. Queer. Cheesy. Sentimental.

Torn on this. On one hand, it was a fun and enjoyable episode with a great setting and good premise. The ending was good too. The scenes with Ruby were quite fun.

But it did fall flat in the middle where it seemed to unserious. One of the twists about a Chuldur character doesn't make much sense. The romance didn't feel earned and felt like it was there just to fulfill Disney's Pride month quota. Even the sacrifice felt like a forced attempt at creating a sad event.

Anyways, I am excited about the two part finale in the upcoming weeks. According to RTD, it's supposed to be "devastating". Eager to know about Susan Twist, and Ruby's backstory.

    Close ... but really??

In some ways the best episode for ages but why why why does the Doctor have to fall for a romance within minutes of meeting a new character?? Sure have a bit of tension (eg Lady Christina de Souza - "we could have been good together") or have it left unsaid (that unfinished sentence to Rose) but that is all that is needed. Just because the Rogue is a clone of Captain Jack doesn't mean the Doctor is too. Sorry for the rant... otherwise a fun episode. I think the current Doctor is growing into the role. He does seem to shed more tears. Not a bad thing, just a trait of this Doctor.

Space Babies aside, definitely better than the last few seasons. Hopefully it continues (albeit without the romance).

Good episode but derivative of itself

As much as I really enjoyed this episode and it's nice to have some new enemies that aren't just the daleks and cybermen every week, this whole season has just been Russel T Davies stealing ideas and whole characters from his first run as showmaker. I want something new, not just David Tennant's run all over again with a new coat of paint.

The Bridgerton theming was kind of fun with the show being referenced in multiple occasions and I hope they do play with some fun period episodes as well as the space ones, Nctuti has some pretty good acting ability as well, he's been such a joy to watch for this season and I hope they give him some episodes to show his range and ability.

    More unfortunately shallow writing

The Victorian setting, while visually appealing, does little to invigorate this narrative. The romance is uninspiring, and a departure from the Doctor's typical relationships in the series, it lacks the depth and engagement necessary to make it compelling. This deviation might intrigue some fans initially, but it ultimately feels puddle deep and sophomoric.

Character progression is minimal, with little development for either the Doctor or the bounty hunter. It's not a show that has ever been primarily about romance, and when it has, usually it tries to make the emotions feel earned, which they don't here.

There's a lack of tension, wonder, menace or intrigue needed to elevate the stakes, resulting in a narrative that feels stagnant and unengaging. The plot meanders without offering the excitement or clever twists that fans have come to expect from Doctor Who.

Overall, "Rogue" misses the mark with a dull romance, underdeveloped characters, and a lack of thrilling or thought-provoking moments.

Knockoff Jack Harkness meets The Family Of Blood...

This episode is a knockoff of two of the best Tennant two-parters. I have to preface by saying that I ADORE Jonathan Groff. Spring Awakening, Glee, Hamilton... he's brilliant. And they did him SO DIRTY as this poorly written, half-baked Captain Jack knockoff. It's so blatant-Cocky and gorgeous with a high-tech space ship and sexual chemistry with everyone. But Groff isn't John Barrowman, and it doesn't work. Meanwhile the four aliens inhabiting human bodies for fun are basically a poor imitation of the Family from Human Nature/The Family of Blood. Except they're ACTUALLY TERRIFYING, and their body-snatching is more calculated and less sloppy. Leaving a body in a hallway? Come on guys. And it's like they're trying to capitalize on how popular Bridgerton is right now, but it's ridiculous. STOP IT RTD!!!! We all know you can do better!!!!! My other gripe with this season in general is that the Doctor is not funny!!! We know Ncuti Gatwa can be funny because of his role on Sex Ed, but every time they try to write him as funny it's just cringey. Every other Doctor has their own brand of humor, even 12, and its just falling flat this season. I do love Ruby, I think Millie Gibson has been carrying these god-awful episodes.

    • Errores
Rogue knows his target is a Chuldur but it didn't dawn on him the Doctor isn't a Chuldur during the body scan. Rogue should know what a Chuldur looks like.

The Doctor: Who did you lose?

      Rogue: What?

      The Doctor: You lost someone.

Rogue: How do you know that?

      The Doctor: Because I know.

Rogue: There was... Yeah. We travelled together. We had fun, y'know? And then a day came along, and at the end of that day... I lost them. What about you?

      The Doctor: I lost everyone.

Rogue: At the party, I saw you with that woman.

The Doctor: Mm. My best friend.

Rogue: Do you ever wonder... why keep going?

The Doctor: Because we have to. We have to live each day because they can't.
