This episode is full of tiny moments that are really really good. The problem is that they just feel pasted into this episode. There is too much going on and nothing as any depth. The effects are great, pratical and cg but the writing just isn't there. And the entire episode seems a bit empty, maybe it is that is should be a big party and their are only like 25 people. And some confersations seem a bit daft.
I really would have to see everything get more attention and care. They really tried pumping too much into one episode. It would have been amazing as a 2 parts.
Torn on this. On one hand, it was a fun and enjoyable episode with a great setting and good premise. The ending was good too. The scenes with Ruby were quite fun.
But it did fall flat in the middle where it seemed to unserious. One of the twists about a Chuldur character doesn't make much sense. The romance didn't feel earned and felt like it was there just to fulfill Disney's Pride month quota. Even the sacrifice felt like a forced attempt at creating a sad event.
Anyways, I am excited about the two part finale in the upcoming weeks. According to RTD, it's supposed to be "devastating". Eager to know about Susan Twist, and Ruby's backstory.
Overall it's a good episode. Not quite as good as 73 yards but some people may like it better than Boom, although I personally like Boom slightly more.
The Bridgerton theming was kind of fun with the show being referenced in multiple occasions and I hope they do play with some fun period episodes as well as the space ones, Nctuti has some pretty good acting ability as well, he's been such a joy to watch for this season and I hope they give him some episodes to show his range and ability.
The episode reminds me of "The Eleventh Hour" a great piece of television that was superb. But It had all the other incarnations of the Doctor, and it's also appeared on this, when the Bounty hunter suspects the Doctor as the killer of the humans, when in reality he's just an angry old man with a blue wooden Box, which is ironic considering it doesn't do wood! Still.
This episode was also thematically rich and much grander and darker then most of Doctor who's run. And I really enjoyed that about it. It wasn't so light hearted but more darker and it set the tone of the episode. Right from the get go we see a death and that was taunting, really scary looking figure. But the lighter tones of this episode are also well included and I'll explain why. But first, it's important to note that this is probably the darkest story so far of the siries. Apart from maybe "Boom" and "73 Yards" coming close.
The lighter bits of the episode were the weird feathery birds, is it a Plane, is it a piece of paper, no it's a Scary looking Bird that decides to do a freaky Friday on you. All jokes aside the costumes did all look tremendous and replicated there eras well I thought. The light Yellow dress that Ruby wore was absolutely stunning.
So Overall my verdict on Rogue, I liked the history piece, and I'd certainly recommend this Episode to Whovians, all I can say is roll on the Finale. Which looks intense and exciting, who knows maybe it's a return for the Trickster. Rogue-8/10.

- ErroresRogue knows his target is a Chuldur but it didn't dawn on him the Doctor isn't a Chuldur during the body scan. Rogue should know what a Chuldur looks like.

The Doctor: Who did you lose?
Rogue: What?
The Doctor: You lost someone.
Rogue: How do you know that?
The Doctor: Because I know.
Rogue: There was... Yeah. We travelled together. We had fun, y'know? And then a day came along, and at the end of that day... I lost them. What about you?
The Doctor: I lost everyone.
Rogue: At the party, I saw you with that woman.
The Doctor: Mm. My best friend.
Rogue: Do you ever wonder... why keep going?
The Doctor: Because we have to. We have to live each day because they can't.
