Solid storytelling
Six episodes were not too long or short to tell this tragic story. It had most of the usual human traits: guilt, betrayal, regrets and, most of all, secrets. The series starts with one mystery, the disappearance of a 15-year old friend (from 15 years ago) and quickly adds a present day murder to the plot. The locals proceed to fall over each other trying to determine who was or is responsible for all this. There are some good red herrings and it was surprising to get to the ending and see who the responsible person ended up being. The early episodes were frustrating to see the lead character Kieran caving in to his reprehensible mother. I kept hoping for him to not put up with the verbal abuse and just leave with his wife and baby. Most of the characters were not very likable, except for Kieran's dad, Brian, suffering from dementia. The filmography was beautiful and yet these characters were all unhappy. Throughout the 6 episodes, we learn why some of them were unhappy and certainly by the ending.
